Chapter 7

Did I peek?
With tits like that? Of course I did! [The End] (Bad End)
I said nothing, merely continuing to pretend to do exactly what my wife had demanded. Course, she hadn't said anything about the mirrors, and I casually reached up and adjusted it to reflect the two girls in the back of the van. Damn, I had to admit that the redhead had NICE tits. Totally perky nipples, and the way they hung on her chest were astounding. They had that slight sag to them that can't be replicated by a bag of silicone, at least not to any degree of accuracy. The blonde wasn't bad either, I noticed, quickly snapping my gaze back to the road when I noticed her head shifting towards the mirror.
I didn't hear any commentary, and I glanced over at my wife, who had seen exactly what I was doing, and looked at me with a furious expression.
"What did I JUST say?" She asked me angrily, reaching up and twisting the mirror away from the two in the back seat. "I swear, with you it's like talking to a monkey; A big stupid monkey named..."
"Oh, so now you're quoting psycho old bitches from cartoons? Totally like you, Kaila. Everything's gotta be a drama. Maybe I was worried about being tailgated, you ever think about that?" I baldfaced lied to her,
"Tailgating? Yeah, right! That's not why you stopped, and we both know it. Or do you not want to talk about the way you were looking at my sister!" Kaila fired back angrily, ignoring the two women in the back seat completely.
"Hey, she didn't lock the bathroom! That was a legitimate mistake!" I countered, unable to believe she wanted to argue about this again. I looked at her with a dismissive stare. "NO, you have to just assume that I'm an asshole who wants to fuck everything."
"You DO want to fuck everything. Seriously, I bet you are already fantasizing about these two." She pointed at the women in the back seat, who were noticeably very quiet.
"Uhm... You can just let us off in town." The blonde commented quietly, as Kaila launched into another diatribe about how I had forgotten to get the mail again. I just nodded, sick and tired of hearing about it. It wasn't like it was a long walk from the carport to the mail boxes, but since Kaila's sister had written it on the almighty chore board, it had to be done. Sometimes it felt like being back in the service around those two, complete with the stupid contradictory commands from officers who had no idea about what it was like to live day to day.
"No problem." I remarked, ignoring another barrage of verbal **** from my wife as the low wooden buildings that marked the side of the Pacific Coast Highway became more and more prominent. I spotted what looked like a bar, or at least a place with an awning, which was better than dropping people in the middle of the rain, and pulled the van to the side of the road. I didn't even notice the gals getting out, concentrating on the pouring rain ahead as my wife just glared at me.
"Hey... do you have anything to eat at least?" I asked the blonde in the beret who had just taken hold of the sliding door and was preparing to close it. "Because I don't think we're gonna use that picnic."
The wooden basket sat there, and for a moment, the woman looked almost apologetic as she took hold of it.
"Thanks. Uh... take care." She slammed the door shut with one hand and waved as I accelerated away from the curb.
"See, now THAT'S not being a jerk. Giving something without expecting something in return." Kaila smugly smiled at me. "I almost believe you about wanting to make things better now, but you should not have been looking at other women."
"For the last time, I was checking the ROAD." I argued, turning the van onto the small turnoff that the GPS indicated.
I drove the bus up the bumpy dirt road. The trees overhung it, giving a slight break to the oppressive rain. Everything, and I mean everything outside seemed damp and dismal, and I actually thought that as far as romantic getaways went, you couldn't have picked much worse, outside of say, Uzbekistan. Especially when I saw the cabin, or rather, what was left of it.
The Cabin looked like it would have been a very nice place to stay, with its very prominent stone fireplace, and wooden beams, complete with a porch. It would have been a much nicer place to stay without the large tree that seemed to have fallen directly on it, and the nice yellow caution tape that was set up around the entire area.
"This was your hot getaway? This was your affair location? My sister could find a better getaway with a ten second google!" Kaila snarled, looking at the smashed windows and timbers of the cabin. "Hell with it, get out of the driver's seat. Get out. It's my van."
I opened the car door, letting the rain pour down and slowly walked around the back of the van. At this point, the thought was just to keep walking. I felt like I'd tried, but no matter what I did, it wasn't enough. Kaila wouldn't be happy without her creature comforts, and these little disasters on my plans had just driven home how bad I was at providing them. What the hell did I see in a woman like her anyway?
I looked into the bus, and saw that Kaila had already moved over into her customary driver's seat, and was adjusting the seat belt. I kicked a small stone at my feet, and watched as it sank into the mud not a few feet from where it had started. You and me both pal, I thought. You and me both.
