With more of King's 'projects'

You were drawing a blank. Where would you be able to go to lay low? Especially if it was going to eventually be clear to whomever you were with that something was off with you. Even right now, in the form of a cute jogging girl, you were clearly out of your depth and that alone would signal to anyone that something was off if they decided to pay you any mind. There was a good chance that Safiya would just transform you in front of friends or family...

"Oh, I've got the perfect place," Safiya said, as you paused your jogging to take a breath. "Have you heard of Donovan's?"

You blinked. "What, the bar? What's so special about it?" You looked at the street corner you were at, brushing some of your newly-minted long locks from your face. From your current position, Donovan's was maybe four blocks, heading in the direction of King's mansion.

"So I'm thinking the last place Emilia would come looking for us is a place with more of her own employees... not like her hired goons though. More like you and me, people she brought in to try out one of her artifacts or gadgets. I saw them all the time from my little vantage point on her shelf when she talks to them. Emilia's been having them run errands after they all got a sort of 'trial run' with their adjusted selves, so I'd heard they try to do Donovan's once a week to wind down with people who could understand their unique situations."

With a shrug, you started jogging again, heading towards the location. "I don't really look like I'm suitable for drinks right now, don't you think? And you really think they wouldn't just call Emilia right up and say something?"

"Don't worry about the looks, I'll fix that when you're near. And don't worry about them reporting to Emilia, they're not typical employees. They do things very unique on Emilia's behalf, and she lets them be for the most part. With any luck, they'll just tell you that we should just skip town and not bother with all the work she's going to ask of us, only a couple of them are firmly on Emilia's side."

You snort as you listen. "And if they say everything's great and we should join the team and work for Emilia?"

Safiya decided to not even respond to that one. The rest of your jog was in silence, until you were about a half-block away from the bar. You felt a strange sensation, as red energy flowed out from behind you. Turning around to see what had happened, you saw Safiya strolling behind you, adjusting a pair of glasses with a very casual blouse and skirt combo in bright colors, a far more modern ensemble than you'd first seen her in. She smiled at you, leaning forward a bit to show off a bit of her tan cleavage, having consciously designed her top to just barely contain her own body so she was always on the verge of spilling out of the strained fabric. "This looks like it should work, right?"

Your mouth hung open, as you nodded dumbly. "Y-yeah, that's... real nice." With a wave of her hands, a red energy pulsed over your form, as your attire shifted to a t-shirt and jeans, snugly fitting your more modest but fit body. "...wait, just change me back! I can just be normal again now, right?"

"Oh, of course not," Safiya said with a mischievous giggle. "I did forget to mention that the meetups at Donovan's were more of a 'ladies night' event than anything. So unless you want to sit at a bar alone, or I could change you into something I could carry, then this is how you have to be for the evening."

You grumbled, but didn't argue it further. After all, it didn't feel bad being in this new body, just strange. Likely some of Safiya's magic made it much easier to move and talk than had you simply been physically changed, so you weren't totally uncomfortable. Walking up to the door, you were stopped by a man outside. "Got your IDs on you, ladies?"

Worriedly, you turned back to Safiya, feeling like you'd missed something. She just keeps smiling, and pats your rear. You jump a little at the sudden touch, but you realized she had done something with a bit of her magic. Reaching back, you found a wallet in your back pocket, and once you pulled it out, you opened it up to find an authentic-looking driver's license, complete with poorly-timed photo from the DMV. Safiya did the same, though you noticed her license picture was far better composed when you caught a glimpse.

The guy looks back and forth between you and the ID a couple times, and his gaze lingers for quite a while on Safiya. You suspected it had little to do with matching her identity to the face... eventually he nodded and handed your cards back. "Taylor, Safiya. Lovely names, go right in ladies."

You sighed in relief as you slipped into the bar, looking around, thankful you had a unisex name so you didn't have to try and learn a new one. Anyone in here could be part of Emilia King's experimentations, you thought. Nobody stood out as clearly magical humans, though you had a strong hint by way of knowing how Safiya looked to try and keep an eye out for exceptional-looking people--particularly women, given her earlier comment about a girls-only outing each week.

"Who are we even looking for?" You asked in a hushed voice, glancing at the taller and shapelier Safiya, whose body was like a magnet to everyone's eyes. At least you didn't have to worry about people staring at you, you were practically invisible next to her shapely body.

"Just... give me a moment. I usually see them from a bit of a height, this is a different perspective for me." Safiya scanned the room, checking for anyone she might recognize who would make for good company that afternoon.
