William gets a new car

Leela seemed more excited about the prospect of William staying with them. She assisted with the wheelchair. They wheeled out to the parking lot.

She motioned to her car, it was a 2001 Honda Civic that clearly had seen better days. As they got closer to the car, the three were surprised by a car screeching into the lot.

He showed some interest as the car parked in front of them.

Priya knew the owner of the car. Rolling her eyes, she told him that the driver was the chief of surgery, Katy Harrington.

Katy loved two things in life. Being Chief of Surgery and her new BMW. She tended to drive too fast, and a bit too recklessly. She saw Priya Kutrapali leaving. The two often ran into one another, they had opposite schedules, so she saw the young nurse as she arrived.

Getting out, she waved at Priya. “Good Morning Pri, hope you had a good night,” she said smiling.

Waving back, Priya said “Oh, it was great, just met William here.” Priya said motioning towards William.

“William, this is Katy, she’s Chief of Surgery here.” Priya continued.

The doc was surprised, she didn’t understand why the patient would be out in the parking lot.

“Priya is being kind enough to let me stay at her place tonight,” William said, Priya beamed at the praise.

“What?” the older doctor answered.

“That’s perfectly normal right? Nurses often take patients home to care for them individually,” William said.

“Oh, now that you said it that way, sure, of course they do.”

“Just like you would like to give me your car right?” William said.

“No….I don’t want that,” she struggled mightily.

Frowning, her shoulders slumped, she handed William her car key. “Here you go William, please take care of her as well as I have,” Katy said, struggling to smile.

They wheeled him to their new car and drove them to their two-bedroom apartment, not far away from the hospital. Leela helped him in then left for class, leaving Priya alone with William.
