Chapter 7 by ewong ewong

Does someone come in?

Where is everyone?

You wait for half an hour, and begin to wonder if they forgot about you. You closer they back of your gown with one hand and open the door with your other. You walk over to your original exam room and knock. You don't hear anything, so you try the handle. To your horror, you find it's been locked!

"What the f-" you begin to say.

"What are you doing?!" A woman's voice asks.

You turn around to see the receptionist who checked you in.

"My clothes are inside." You explain.

"That's weird. Dr. Chase and everyone left for lunch almost a half hour ago." She explained.

"That can't be right. They were supposed to come get me to give me my clothes!"

"Well, they're the only ones with the key. If you want, you can wait in the waiting room until they come back." She offered.

You look at the deserted room and agree. You take a seat as far from the desk as possible to avoid looking at her, and possibly showing something you'd rather not have her see. The clock ticks, and you watch as you see you've been here for almost an hour and a half. Then, you remember your parking situation.

"Oh crap! I have to feed the meter!" You shout.

"What's the matter?" The receptionist asks.

You explain what's going on, and she takes pity on you.

"I can give you the money so you can run down real quick."

"Are you crazy?! I'm only wearing this gown. I can't go running through the lobby and onto the street like this!"

"Well, I can't leave my post. If someone calls or comes in while I'm not here, there could be a security risk and I could get in trouble." She explains.

You sigh and put your hand out for the change. She gives you enough for another hour, and you boy out the door, hand still clutching the back of your gown. You are able to get in the elevator just fine and enter the lobby. The older woman at the front desk is looking at you more intently now, but doesn't say anything as you run out the door. You don't see anyone, so you let go of your gotten so you can run faster. As you near your cast, you see a woman in a police uniform standing in front of your car, writing a ticket. You yell for her to stop so you can fill the meter. The officer looks at you in disbelief, but continues her job.

Are you able to convince her to let you go?
