Where do you spend most of your time?

You figure you’ve teased her enough at this point. Is it time to actually get to know her a little, show her that you’re a real human being underneath it all too? You figure that even if things go wrong, the question will at least tell you where you can find her for seconds (yes, sure, the people running the experiment said not to reach out to the people afterwards, but who really cares about that? You suddenly begin to understand why all of these social science papers fail to replicate).

“So, where do you hang out most of the time?” you ask, and you watch her reaction. It’s a bit non-committal, just a trace of a smile that tells you you didn’t totally fuck things up.

“The pool, I guess,” she says. “I swim a lot, and work as a lifeguard part-time for the school. It turns out you can make some decent cash doing it.”

“It must be fun, diving in and saving hot guys from meeting their watery graves.”

“You would think so, but it’s always the seventy-year old professor who has no business being in the pool that cramps up in the shallow end who ends up needing help,” she says. “I swear, it’s happened like three times already.”

“Is it the same prof? Maybe the old geezer’s just got the hots for you… maybe you should give him mouth to mouth, see how he reacts,” you say.

“They were all different professors, and two of them were female,” she says, snorting. “But hey, who am I to judge? Maybe they weren’t straight.”

“Or maybe you just bent them out of line,” you say.

The look that Amy shoots you makes you question whether that was the right line to say. You open your mouth to qualify yourself, but are cut off by the alarm.

“That’s the second round,” Alexei says, and there’s a new set of pairings up on the screen. “Time to find your new partner!”

After getting up from your seat, it takes you a second to locate your name. You see that you’ve been matched with a girl named Adriana.
