Wait for the doctor

You stare in the mirror, marvelling at the strangeness of it all. You run your fingers over the scars, trying to remember how you got them. You wonder what happened to the nursing assistant, and whether or not the doctor is coming. It feels like it's been forever since she left.

Suddenly the bathroom door opens and a very attractive woman with an olive complexion and thick, chestnut brown hair tied up in a loose bun appears. She appears to be in a state of shock. Her big, beautiful brown eyes are wide with disbelief, and her mouth hangs open, speechless. She is wearing a white doctor's coat and appears to be about forty, only a couple of years older than you.

"J-John? What are you doing?" she asks, completely amazed.

You wet your lips with your tongue, trying to get your mouth to work. "I-I needed to know," you say thickly. Your words are hardly recognizable.

The woman nods compassionately. "Of course, John. But you shouldn't be out of bed yet. You're still too weak. You need to rest." She puts her arm around your back and holds you up by the armpits as she turns you to the door.

"Peggy," she says, turning to look over her shoulder. "Could you help me to get John back to his bed?"

The nursing assistant appears in the doorway nodding her head. "Of course, Dr. Pembrost."

So this is your doctor, you think, turning to take another look at the beautiful woman supporting you. As you crane your neck, another wave of pain shoots down your spince, causing you to wince and gasp.

Dr. Pembrost gives you a worried look and leads you out of the bathroom. Peggy takes you by the right shoulder and the two women support your weight as your feeble legs move you in the direction of the bed. In spite of the bizarre nature of your awakening and the pain coursing through your body, the feeling of having these two women pressed up against you creates a stirring in your loins.

Gently, they set you down in bed, arranging the sheets and pillow to make you comfortable.

"Peggy, could you ask the nurse to prepare a new IV drip for John?"

The blonde girl nods and leaves the room. It is only then that you realize that your IV has become separated from you. The rolling stand is in the middle of the room. It must have come loose when you were crawling across the floor. You look at your hand. There is blood on the bandage where the IV needle used to be attached.

"What-what's happening to me?" you ask, looking at Dr. Pembrost.

The woman sighs and looks down. She sits on the corner of the bed and then looks at you, composing herself.

"You gave us quite a scare today, J-," suddenly, she stops. "I'm sorry," she says, smiling with a touch of embarrassment. "I'm so used to calling you John. We're all so used to it, since we still don't know what your real name is."

She looks at you expectantly, obviously waiting for you to enlighten her.
