Visit the nearby forest

Liandra had heard that the forest near the town was a serene and beautiful place. Surely a quick stroll through it would help clear her head and allow her to think more clearly about her upcoming wedding.

It did not take long for the princess to reach the forest. Once she was among the trees she stopped and took a deep, long breath. The smell was unlike anything in the palace. It was a smell of trees, and grass, and flowers… And there was so much green – a lot more than in the palace gardens. There were also many flowers that could not be found in the gardens… the forest was everything she had expected, and more.

After getting used to her new surroundings Liandra started thinking where to go. She had heard about a few spots of interest.

First was a lake near the center of the forest. The rumors said magical creatures could be found there, though the rumors could not agree on what type of creatures, exactly: Some rumors said forest nymphs bathed in the lake, others claimed lake nymphs live in and around the lake, other ones claimed there were mermaids living in the lake, and yet others claimed it was in fact sirens that inhabited it…

Second was a large forest clearing with lots of different flowers. Liandra had heard stories about fairies gathering there from time to time.

Third were some old – and supposedly haunted – ruins. According to some stories they were from a time before the country existed. The princess had never seen something this old. Who knew what sort of ancient artifacts could still be there?

Or she could just take a stroll through the forest, without a particular destination in mind. Perhaps she would find – or meet – something or someone of interest…
