Chapter 28 by korook korook

What do you do?

Use caution. There’s no telling what her next move might be.

You slowly approach La Diabla in the corner she’s leaning against, and she shrinks back from your advance, holding up her arms to shield herself—until you get into striking range.

Her body pivots smoothly out of her affected position of weakness, and she snaps out a punch that you’re sure would have laid you out on the mat if you hadn’t been ready for it.

But you were, so when her fist flies out to strike you, you’re simply not there anymore. You feel the rush of wind as it misses your face by only a couple of inches. Before she can retract her arm—almost before she realizes she’s missed her attack—you grab it, keeping her from pulling back to a defensive stance. Her eyes go wide as she realizes she’s been outmaneuvered.

You don’t give her any time to fix her mistake, using your grasp on her arm to Irish whip her into the ropes. She rebounds off them and stumbles forward, giving you the perfect opportunity for a finishing move.

As she tries to halt her motion, you quickly grab her around the neck and leg and pull her smoothly up and over you, using her momentum to aid in the setup for your next move. Once she’s upside down, with her legs pointing straight up into the air, you fall backwards into a vertical suplex than sends her slamming into the mat with earth-shaking ****. The thud of her impact and the rattling of the ring and its supports are music to your ears.

So is the announcer’s next comment: “Check out that suplex! John might have just gotten what he needs to put La Diabla down once and for all.”

You take a second to confirm that, looking down at her. She’s laying prostrate on the canvas, moaning and stirring slightly. This time, you’re sure her pain isn’t faked.

“I was so sure you’d fall for that,” she sighs as she tries futilely to push herself up.

Time to go for the pin. You lower yourself down into a simple, unassuming crossbody. As the ref’s hand rises and falls, you whisper into Angelica’s ear, “That was a hell of a fight.”

She nods wearily in thanks as the buzzer signals your point. A few moments later, the final bell signals the end of the match.

You’ve won a point for a pinfall.
