Unpleasant interruption

The passionate and audible lovemaking went in that order for a while. All the participants lost their sense of time. It was interrupted by an unusual intrusion.

“Sarah!” the shocked voice belonged to Alexandra, a fellow policewoman.

“Alexandra said nothing about pheromones being used, so I assume they weren’t,” the captain’s lips said, but her look told ‘but I know you did’.

“There will be only one punishment for you,” Athena continued, “I cancelled your enrollment for the sergeant’s exam.”

“No! You can’t!”

“I did. Promotion is a reward for unflawed service.“

“Please! Captain, give me some other punishment. But not that!”

“Take the rest of the day off. Dismiss.”

“But…”

“I said dismiss.”

Sarah knew that the punishment was fair and she was the only one to blame. But she wanted to be promoted. She needed it! She was only five years Athena’s junior and the other woman was a captain and she was still on the patrol. That was unfair! Watered by frustration and anger, the roots of envy began to grow...
