Unpack

Maybe being her own person could wait just a little bit longer: Megan really wanted to get settled in before just diving into a new place. She started to open up boxes and set up a safe little nest she could return to and think about all her new experiences. Neatly-folded clothes found their way to one of the dressers; others, carefully pulled out of bags and still on their hangers, ended up in the closet. She set up her own personal shelves next to her desk and put everything she'd brought on them: a few books and pictures, toiletries for the bathroom her room shared with the one next to it, and even a few little snacks her mom had been nice enough to pack for her.

She even went so far as to make her bed. Bright pink sheets peeked out from under a thick purple blanket; after a short time, her side of the room liked a lot like home. The other side was still bare.

For a moment, Megan wondered if she should've maybe waited to meet her roommate before just taking over one side of the room, but figured that she was there first, and it wasn't really a big deal anyway. One side was really about the same as the other. Still, a little part of her hoped that her roommate would feel the same way about it.
