Stepping through the portal, you find yourself in front of a large lab. You decide to go inside.

"Ah, you must be the new trainer I was expecting today. I am Professor Juniper."

"Sir, I'm not a...," you start to correct her.

"I do apologize but I am rather busy at the moment. Here is your starter pokemon."

She hands you a pokeball and a small handheld computer.

"And here is your pokedex. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to get back to work."

She turns around and heads back to his work leaving you in stunned silence. You might as well hold on to the items he gave you. Maybe if you look around town you can find out who they were originally supposed to be given to.
