Try out the spell

After stressing and typing furiously for half an hour you take a quick break to grab some water. You had completely forgotten the reports, and are not sure you can have them ready by noon, as Suze asked. As the stress almost overtakes you, a crazy plan forms in your mind. What if you use the spell from the spellbook to prolong the deadline? It's all complete and utter nonsense, of course, just a prank by your crazy uncle. But what have you got to lose?

So trying to memorize the words to the spell exactly, you knock on the door of her private office.

"What is it?" she shouts from inside.

"Can I come in?" you ask.

"Do you have my report?"

"About that..." you say, as you walk in and close the door behind you. "Um... I have something to say..."

"What is it?"

"Menses-us... Imperiu... nu.. mu-mus..." you mutter trying to remember the spell?

"What was that?"

"Um... MENSUS IMPERIUMUS!" you loudly say, closing your eyes and expecting the worst.

You open your eyes, and she looks at you with a dazed expression. You're scared you've confused her, but then you notice that she doesn't move... or blink...

You walk a little closer to her, and move your hands before her eyes. She doesn't move them.

"Hello? You alright?" you ask.

"Hello... I am alright..." she says with a distant voice.

You click your fingers in front of her face.

"Click. Click. Click." she mimicks.

You decide to just go for it. It seems like she's hypnotized, which is as the book described.

"So, I won't be able to finish the reports today..."

"You won't be able to finish the reports today..." she answers in that distant voice again.

"In fact, I won't finish the reports ever," you say, getting more excited. "I think Ian has to finish those reports instead."

"You won't finish the reports... Ian will finish the reports..."

"Yes, and you won't ask me to do any work anymore," you continue. "I choose when I want to work, and how hard I want to work."

"You don't have to do any work anymore... You can choose when you work, and how hard..."

"And I'm your favourite employee. I will get a 15% payrise."

"You are my favourite employee... You get a 15% payrise...."

You laugh giddily, and decide this is enough now. "Opus Est" you say.

Vision comes back into her eyes and she seems to see you again.

"Oh, right, Robin. I wanted to see you. Since you've been doing so much great work these past years, I want to offer you a pay rise of 15%."

"Oh, wow, thanks Mrs. Stallion !"

"Please, call me Suze. You deserve it." She gives you a wink. "I'll draw up a contract for you by the end of the day, so come back for that."

"Okay, I will leave you to it."

"Thank you. And please call Ian in for me. I need to ask him something."

"You got it, Suze."

You walk out of the office, extatic with what just happened. You can't believe it actually worked! Unless she was playing an awful prank on you. Better to experiment some more with the spell.
