Try Every Number

You decide that patience is a virtue, and you are going to get this stupid code right if it takes all day.

Unfortunately, you have seriously underestimated the number of possible combinations, and that much becomes apparent once you start really trying to put in every single one. I mean, there's 0-0-0-0, that you already tried, then 0-0-0-1, 0-0-0-2, 0-0-0-3...all the way to 9-9-9-9. A quick bit of math tells you that there are exactly ten thousand variations, and punching in each one and waiting for the keypad to blink at you and reset takes ten seconds. That doesn't sound like much but ten seconds times ten thousand...that's a lot. You can't do that kind of math in your head, but if you could you'd come back with an answer of about 26 hours of non-stop keypad typing. As it is, when you find yourself keying in 1-4-4-1 about three hours after you started, and just as the sun is going down, you start to realize that this is going to take a lot of time.

There is no way you'll be able to finish this tonight, and it's too late to try anything else
