There was a loud explosion from down the street as the transformer blew, the light under the door leading to the hallway flickered as the back up power kicked in. John sat up covered in sweat, the noise startling her awake. Blinking her eyes a few times, she wiped the crust away from the tips. John took a look at the flashing clock by her bed still bright to her unadjusted eyes, it read, blinking in its glaring red light '12:00'.

'Crap,' she thought to herself, 'the power is out again, when are they going to figure out what keeps causing the transformer to fry.' Dragging herself out of bed John stood and made her way down the hall and to the bathroom. Thoughts started to flood her mind, the concerns of the day returning to her through the clouded mind of sleepiness. She reached the bathroom and closed the door behind her.
