They aren't the only hungry ones

Deciding to leave them alone for the time being, James headed back towards the kitchen, since he still hadn't had anything to eat himself yet. He stood in the middle of the kitchen for a moment, sort of just turning his head around to look at the fridge, the cupboards, and so on as though he had x-ray vision... Come on, we all do it. He could go with something simple, a bowl of cereal perhaps.

Then he thought of the two hungry canines currently down the hall, and the large pack of bacon in the fridge. Ah bacon, if there was anything that could possibly win over any animal, so long as they ate meat, it was bacon.

And with that, his mind was made up, so James began pulling out the pans and heating the oven. That's right, the oven. People will try to say nothing beats good fried bacon, but baking it makes the bacon so much more tender and juicy. In fact, James figured if he was going to go this far anyways, there was no point in putting on the brakes now.

While the oven was heating, he quickly whipped up some mashed potatoes. Yes, instant mashed potatoes. It wasn't ideal, but he kind of wanted to hurry things along. He added his usual blend of spices though, then made those potatoes into patties, wrapped each patty in bacon, and into the oven they went. The bacon juices will seep into the potatoes, the moisture from the potatoes will keep the bacon tender, and by the end James will have himself some tender but slightly crispy bacon patties with a juicy potato filling.

As he waited for the patties to bake, he leaned his back against the counter and stared up at the ceiling, mulling over the events of the morning. It's crazy to think that, less than an hour ago, he had discovered a crate with two animals inside, in his living room. Now, he was making them breakfast. Actually, was it right to call them animals? Sure, they did look the part, but they also had some very prominent human... Attributes.

It was then James just happened to notice a movement out the corner of his eye. Without turning his head, James simply glanced over to see one of the canines peeking her head around the corner.
