Find the answers she is looking for?

The woman uncovers how she was created.

The woman decided to investigate the desktop computer first. David, due to his transformation had conveniently left it both logged on and open on the files that contained details of his work on the formula. She found she could instantly grasp the very complicated and advanced chemistry formula that appeared to be the man's current project. Whoever he was, she thought, he was certainly a gifted biochemist. The woman swiftly understood that in theory the formula could be capable of rewriting a recpient's DNA, although there seemed to a considerable leap of faith on the man's part that a theory was indeed fact. She frowned slightly when she reached the final entries in the project folder where an attempt to introduce human DNA to the formula had been aborted because donor DNA was already present.

That was extremely odd, had the man somehow forgotten that he had previously instilled DNA into the serum. She scanned back and confirmed there was no computer log of any DNA being previously, which did not make any sense. Clearly the man had blindly proceded with the experiment despite the anomoly. Her opinion of the chemist fell, brilliant as he might be he should have halted and investigated this error. Opening up the logs she trawled back and traced all recorded activity on the formula. There, a day before the final serum was produced she found a deleted entry. Curiouser and curiouser, it seemed reasonable that this deleted entry was the record of the anomolous DNA being instilled in the serum.

Deciding that the clinical facts on the computer had told her all they could the woman turned her attention to the journal. She picked up the hefty leather bound book and went back into the main living room. Sitting back in the recliner armchair she began to read. A bottle of bourbon and a glass were on a table beside the chair and the woman poured herself a large glass to sip while she read. The first thing she discovered was the name of it's writer, presumably the chemist, homeowner and man in the photographs she had seen. David Jekyll, a most unusual surname though she instantly thought of the classic story of Jekyll and Hyde although David's memories of being related to the title character were absent from her recognition.

The next discovery was that the journal was not simply a scientific log of his work on the serum. He had used it as a diary, so his research was mixed up with his day to day thoughts and activities. Details of his life proved to be excedingly uninteresting to the woman. David Jekyll proved to be in the woman's opinion a dull, whiny, spineless specimen no matter how gifted a biochemist. He detailed his sad, self pitying lack of female companionship in nauseating repitition. The woman put down the book for a moment and laughed. What might be an historic breakthrough in chemistry was motivated by this pathetic creature's desire to make himself more attractive to women, what irony.

She began to skip through the tedious details of his personal failures until she noticed that recently he written on this subject more frequently. It seemed that the boring David had achieved some glimmer of success with the opposite sex. She read more thoroughly as David's interactions with Monica were recorded in his usual **** and unattractive needy thoughts. Peculiar that a woman as beautiful as David claimed this Monica to be would continue to call him or even answer his calls. The journal ended with David's declaration that his work was complete and that he intended to test the serum on himself and complete his great grandfather's work.

The woman put down the book, disturbed by the clear implications of the last entry. The only conclusion she could come to logically was that the serum had indeed worked, after a fashion. The reason for her total personal amnesia was that she had no history to recall. David's serum had created her. This initial conclusion was very troubling to the woman for several different reasons. The first was that she was born from a man that she had quickly found to be weak and contemptable. Secondly the details of the serum made it clear that the effect was only temporary, designed to be flushed from the body's system in around twentyfour hours. Thirdly, whose was the anomolous DNA that had made the experiment transform David into her?

"Happy birthday me." The woman said wryly, lifting her glass of bourbon in a toast before downing the whole tumbler and pouring herself another.

What should the woman do next?
