Chapter 9 by daciasdesire daciasdesire

Who's inside the car?

The window lowers slowly revealing...

Special Agent Anderson. "Jack! Oh my God. Thank goodness its you," Sarah's heart jumped at the very sign of him. Her pulse had been racing as she approached the car, not knowing who was inside.
"Get in quickly. We have to get out of here. Lets just hope that you're not being followed," he said while nodding his head towards the back door of the car. She pulled the handle and hopped inside. Jack spoke quickly with the driver saying, "take us to headquarters," and they were in motion.

During the drive Sarah and both the men in the car kept turning to see if they were being tailed. Luckily it looked like she had managed to escape detection, as the coast seemed clear. They took a long rout that didn't lead straight back to the CIA building giving Jack plenty of time to question her about the mission. "Were you able to find anything worthwhile?" he asked.
"I managed to grab a pile of shipping invoices and port schedules before I had to get out of there. I hope its what you need. Did you want to have a look at them?" she said holding out her bag for Jack to look at.
"No that's fine. You hang onto them for now. Special Agent Turner will want to go through them when we arrive."

They were let into the CIA headquarters through an underground entrance at the rear. The driver flipped his I.D. for the guard at the checkpoint to see and they drove into the car park. "Drop us off at the next security point and I'll take Sarah through while you find a parking spot for the car." The driver came to a holt in front of a rectangular glass area and then took off. The small foyer was made of three walls that encircled a set of four lifts that traveled from this underground section to the lockdown area above. A thick bulletproof barrier divided this room in half and in that was a booth that housed a guard next to a set of rotating door. Jack walked up to the guard booth and showed his pass saying, "Special Agent Anderson along with Extraordinary Agent Banks. She should be on the list. The guard looked at a clip file in front of him and nodded, then pressed a button that starts the rotating doors moving.

They passed inside and Jack lead Sarah to a small featureless white room that looked like another one of the interrogations rooms. The room featured a table surrounded by four chairs and nothing else. Beside the door they had come in, another one was situated in the opposite wall. He instructed Sarah to wait there while he took the documents away with him through the second door.

It seemed like an hour had passed before a female agent came in and asked Sarah if she would like a coffee while she waited. Sarah politely asked if she could have a Diet Coke if at all possible. The girl returned with this but left shortly after she had collected the wire from Sarah. It seemed an indeterminable amount of time passed until Jack returned with Special Agent Turner that she had met previously. Turner sat down at the table opposite Sarah and Jack sat down next to him.
"We've listened to the material you 'ahem' recorded and I must say that you used 'ahem' remarkable 'ahem' skills to avoid being discovered." Turner coughed as he went over Sarah's distraction earlier. "It seems that the documents you recovered are for a large shipment the Passini's have arriving this very morning. We are assembling a strike team to go in on this as we speak. Special Agent Anderson will take you to stay at his house tonight for your own safety." Sarah felt a huge swelling of pride in that she had been able to help the CIA in their fight against organized crime. Seconds later she suddenly felt exhausted from the stress of the past couple of hours. Jack said they would leave now, as Sarah looked dead on her feet. Turner left too, in order lead the **** team on the dock raid.

They drove to Jacks house and he led her inside. The cool breeze on her face as they drove had done much to refresh Sarah such that she was feeling a whole lot better. Jack went to the fridge to get himself a beer and offered Sarah a drink also. They sat at the kitchen counter informally going over little details of the assignment when Jack asked, "Sarah you did an incredible job out there tonight. I was just wondering if you wanted to help me with a little 'under-covers' assignment tonight?"

Would she be up for this extra mission?
