The vampire gives you a warning

Even though he was little more than a shrivelled husk, the vampire still groaned in agony. Still alive by pure willpower.

"WHY?!" He screamed out, "I did what I was told! I killed the Hunter! Why has this been done to me?!"

"Obviously, because you killed one of the Shadow Hunters." Venus answered plainly, confused. "There was a bill for your head."

"W-what? This, this was just a-a job?! Someone had just, just posted a bill to...to..." The vampire suddenly went still, and his gaze drifted to the ceiling. "...they sent you to kill me."

Slowly, he began to laugh. It began as a small chuckle and grew into a booming, roaring laughter that was laced with insanity. His broken, charred chest shuddered with each breath he took and he was literally falling apart in front of you.

"Oh, Valdin, you clever bastard." The vampire said between spurts of giggling. "Well done! Well done!"

"What's so funny, vampire?"

"LaSalle. If you're speaking to me, at least use my name." His eyes flash towards her with crystal clarity. "And I'm laughing at you, girl. Your ignorance astounds me. You are being played and you don't even realize it. Only a single gear in a contraption where the wheels turn other wheels, and the machine's purpose remains cloaked in shadow. Did you really think that this was just some common hunt? You have no idea of the games being played underneath."

"I am going to tell you what exactly is going to happen to you over the next few days." LaSalle said as he smiled at Venus. Somehow, his teeth remained pearly white and stood out even more against his blackened flesh. "Consider it a parting gift and my counterstroke."

"You will return to Altima and claim your reward. Then, within a few days, you will receive a letter. It will be from the leader of your little, pathetic group. Master Yorin. He will summon you to the human capital, Regis. He will advise you to tell no one of your journey. When you arrive, you will be escorted to his private chambers, not to the audience hall and not to the reception rooms. Inside, he will ask you about this job, he will be precise with his questions, yet vague with his answers. When it is over, he will ask you never to mention this job again. Then he will send you off on a special mission, and on that mission you will die."

"But if you want to know the truth. If you want stop being one of the pieces and become a player, then ask Yorin about the hunter I killed." His words come out as little more than a gasp as the vampire reaches up to put his hand on his neck. "Ask him about Cassandra."

Then LaSalle ripped his own throat out.
