The river...

After what feels like an hour, you reach a river. Your group of dogs, which is about seventy to a hundred men strong, halts at the bank. Across the river stands a group of cat-men, of about the same number.

Rufus grabs your arm and pulls you to the front, wading into the shallows. The river is about twenty feet wide. A cat pulls a dog to the front on the other side, and the leaders of the two groups face off. You can see the dislike etched in their faces, but finally, the cat breaks the silence.

"I am Felix, chief of the cats."

Rufus answers, "And I am Rufus, chief of the dogs."

"You have heard the prophecy?" asks Felix.

"I have."

"What is your champion's name?" asks the chief of the cats. Rufus turns to you quizzically. All eyes are on you.

"Steve," you hear yourself say.

Then Rufus asks, "What is your champion's name?"

Likewise, the cat chief turns to the dog on the other side of the river, and you hear the dog say, "Adam."

There are a few more words, but the two groups are loathe to stay near one another. Felix tells you that this whole river will be undisturbed for a week by the cats, and Rufus agrees. Then, the two groups leave...
