Chapter 4 by Sgtwolf Sgtwolf

What do you find?

The racetrack? That’s odd

“Well this one looks a bit... weird” you think, as you click on the link to a wanted ad by the local racetrack.

  • Hiring young men to work at the Downs. New forms of races require enthusiastic and fit young men to fulfill both short term and long term positions.
  • Applicants must have the physical endurance for the difficult but potentially well paying positions, as well as the mental endurance to follow instruction to the letter.
  • Training and equipment will be provided if chosen. Both short term and long term positions may require additional work hours until training is complete.
  • Applicants will provide a picture as well as their physical statistics to prove fitness levels.

You had heard of the Downs, a recently opened race track for the rich and affluent, though your family and friends were not enough of either to ever get inside. Figuring they were looking for either a stable hand or servers you decided to apply. You included a recent picture showing your thin but fit frame, as well as your stats: 5’7, 135 lbs, and a 28 inch waist. You also included your mile time to prove your fitness at what you consider an impressive 6 minutes 30 seconds.

It doesn’t take long for them to send a response, congratulating you for being selected to interview for a position at the Downs. The email asks if you are free all weekend for potential training, stating that lodging will be provided. They also attach a large legal document for you to sign once you’ve read, covering potential liabilities.

Do you read the form?
