Chapter 17

What's next?

The next morning

Dan woke first and got up to perform his daily routine. His mother, still asleep on the other bed, didn't make a sound as he slipped past her and into the bathroom. One hot shower later, he was ready for the day.

"Morning," he greeted when he saw Laura awake and looking at her phone.

"Morning, dear. My turn," she said before starting to get up. "Uh, dear, do you mind looking the other way?"

"Sure," Dan said as he walked over to his side of the room. He stared at the wall, listening to his mother get up and go into the bathroom.

Once he knew it was safe to turn around, Dan got up and went over to where his mother's charger was, still plugged up to her phone. He smiled to himself as he unplugged her phone and plugged up his. The light from her phone's screen made him look down. Laura had several unread texts. Not wanting to get caught snooping, he put her phone on her pillow and started to crawl back into bed. It was then he saw the discolored, wet patch in his mother's sheets.

"Guess I'm not the only one that has that problem," he laughed, feeling a little awkward. He had trouble thinking of his mother as a sexual person sometimes. It was his mom, not the next-door neighbor or a hot teacher. The wet spot drew his eyes, making him remember her naked breasts in the mirror. An image of her changing and the way her large breasts bounced as she put on her bra made him breathe a little harder.

"Ugh, I need to do something about that," he grumbled as adjusted himself.

"Do something about what?" Laura asked as she came out of the bathroom. She paused and looked between him and her phone. "Uh... excuse me? I was charging my phone."

"I just wanted to make sure mine was fully charged for the day. I'll be at work," Dan explained.

Laura gave him a raised eyebrow but didn't comment. Her eyes shifted to the bed. She casually pulled up the sheets and sat on the bed. "I'll look around today. You're off at four or five?"

"Five-thirty," he answered. "I should really get going. It's farther than I normally drive."

"Oh... no! I forgot. I need to get you to your car, first. I'll need to the car today, or I'll have to rent another night."

"Ah, right, okay. We need to get going now then," Dan exclaimed.
