Chapter 11

What do you tell him?
The mission was a success
“Sir,” officer Ferro begins and stands up, “we searched the house like ordered and confiscated two bags with unregistered money and illegal weapons. Four people have been arrested. Three of them are likely the bank robbers were after. No dead or seriously injured on both sides.”
“Excellent,” lieutenant Garrick says and nods, “I will have a look on the report and the evidence soon. But please, give me more details.”
“It was Ashley who discovered the fourth criminal in the bathroom,” the other female officer explains, “I was close to her when she ordered him to his knees with her weapon drawn.”
“Was he armed?” lieutenant Garrick asks with an eyebrow raised.
“A shotgun,” you answer quick, “but he wasn’t able to aim at me because of the small space. I arrested him and secured the bags he had at his side. They were full of money, jewelry and weapons with removed serial numbers. Likely the loot from the robbery. We gave all to the CSIs.”
“The three suspects in the living room didn’t caused many trouble,” one of your colleagues says, “they remained arrogant but calm until officer Masterson took down their hidden ally. Once we had both weapons and the loot, they gave up and started to blame each other.”
“We showed them who is the real boss in this city,” Greg added and grins, “even the newbies made a good job.”
“Alright, guys and girls, ballistic will check the weapons and I will question the arrested suspects to find out who the killer from the robbery is,” lieutenant Garrick says proud, “that was great work from you all. I’m proud of all of you. Please continue your work. And have a nice weekend.”
You all stand up and walk out of the room. But lieutenant Garrick suddenly stops you.
“Officer, one moment, please,” lieutenant Garrick says, “I know this kind of criminals. Did they harassed you somehow? Sexual comments or uninvited touching? It’s not a shame, I will keep it for myself if you want.”
“A little but nothing I couldn’t handle,” you answer, “don’t worry, sir.”
“Good girl,” lieutenant Garrick says and smiles, “keep it up. You have great potential. Don’t allow such pigs to pull you down. You can go now. Have a nice weekend.”
You smile about this compliment and return to your desk. It’s a small desk with a computer for writing reports and a few folders for current cases you are involved. Despite this there is barely place for your backpack. Your desk is in a shared office with eleven other officers. All subordinates that work for lieutenant Garrick and lieutenant Stronger have their desks here. The detectives have much larger desks in the upper floor. And the lieutenants even have own offices. You try to avoid all the office talk and questions about the house search and concentrate about the paperwork you still have to do. By the time when the night shift takes over you have finished everything. So you say goodbye to everyone and head home.
Head home
