Chapter 4
by SlimeQSlimedog
So, are you hungry?
The lure of the mysterious package is too enticing.
The package is pretty small, about half the size of a mailbox. It's a plain brown box, with no markings on it anywhere except for your address, which is printed on an address label sticker. No return address is provided. Other than that... nope, it's just a box, sealed with packing tape. It's a total mystery.
You look at it with suspicion. A small, plain brown box with no indication of where it came from? Sounds like a trap. Probably one of the bullies at school playing some dumbass trick on you, although this would be more elaborate than their usual plans. Usually they do something far stupider like prank call you, or taunt and throw things at you as you walked home from school.
Whatever, you think. You grab a steak knife and tear into the box. Inside, you find a bunch of crumpled-up newspaper, and then...
...a bracelet.
What the fuck is this shit?
You take it out of the box, and examine it. The first thing you notice is that it's actually pretty big, much bigger than your wrist. If anything, it looks like it would fit on your forearm. It's not solid like a bracelet, either, but segmented. You give it a gentle tug, and find that it's stretchy, like some sort of elastic. Seems like it would fit on your leg, or maybe your upper arm. The segments are definitely made out of some sort of metal, and have are bright and shiny. In fact, they match the stainless steel knife you're holding. One of the segments is larger than the others, but aside from that, they're all uniform and rectangular. The thing basically looks like a really big wristwatch with no face on it.
This weird thing has piqued your interest, despite yourself. You look back down at the box, and find something else: a folded note. You reach in and pull it out. It's typed and printed on what looks like a laser printer -- no handwriting here for you to analyze, not that you could even if you wanted to. The note reads:
Sam:
I know this package comes as a surprise to you. Please apologize for my terseness here; I'm in a bit of a time crunch, so I have to be brief. The object contained in this package is called a Manipulator. I know it looks like some sort of simple fashion accessory, but the truth is that it is far, far more. The Manipulator is a prototype telepsychic transmitter. In essence, it lets the wearer broadcast mental images to anyone within eyesight. Using the Manipulator, you can essentially cause another person to do or believe nearly anything you want.
There's more you should know, but I'm out of time right now. Take it, and figure it out. I have faith in you.
P.K.
You stare at the note for a while. Several conflicting emotions fight for dominance in your brain. First, of course, is suspicion. You've never heard of anybody with the initials "P.K.", and the idea that anything could read peoples' minds, much less alter them, is ludicrous science fiction. If this thing could actually do what it claims to do, people would literally be killing each other to get it, right now.
But that feeling is quickly replaced by ambition. What if this thing is actually real? You've looked at all those women throughout your life with aching desire; could this thing make them reciprocate? Make them just as lusty and willing as you are? You can feel yourself stiffen at the thought. A world so nakedly sexual, so uninhibited, sounds utterly amazing to you.
You continue to stare at the strange armband. It certainly doesn't look impressive in any way, which is frankly a brilliant decision -- of course you'd want to keep something so powerful looking innocuous. Eh, what the heck, you think, might as well give it a shot.
You cross your fingers...
The Manipulator
With great power comes... yeah, you know the rest
When a teenager receives an odd device anonymously in the mail -- a device claiming it lets the wearer manipulate the mind of any person in the vicinity -- it's no surprise as to what it ends up being used for. Content Warning: Obviously, any scenario where people have their minds altered specifically for sexual purposes is , akin to drugging them. If this disturbs you, I strongly suggest you find a different story. Some branches may also contain exhibitionism, voyeurism, , et cetera.
