The long wait

Amy paces back and forth through the kitchen, growing more and more nervous as time ticks by, occasionally poking her head out towards the food court, hoping that James well soon reappear, but with no sign.

As the clock begins to near nine Amy begins to panic, several customers are now milling about it the food court and will be wanting service at any moment, but there's no way she can come out of the kitchen dressed like this.

Finally the clock does hit nine, and the mall music begins to play, signifying that the place is now open. Almost immediately a young man approaches the burger bar, looking around and clearly wanting to be served. Where the hell was James?
