Chapter 5 by ThomasMoro ThomasMoro

What happens next?

The lady doth protest

At first, Annie was too embarrassed to say anything.

Then she realized that she had to say something or the situation would prove even more awkward than it already was.

So she reached down and slowly pulled the woman's head away from its current destination until it was facing her face.

Then she said, "That was nice. But you didn't have to do that."

"Of course I did," said the woman. "Didn't you like it?"

"Yes, but --" Annie started to say but the woman interrupted. "Then good. It's about time the two of us had something nice to enjoy for a change."

Annie coughed. "Er, I have a husband."

"So do I," said the lady. "So?"

"He's going to be expecting me," said Annie.

"So let him wait," said the woman.

"But --" Annie started to say.

The woman kissed her on the lips and thrust a small white card into Annie's left hand. On the card was written an address.

"Meet me there tomorrow at noon if you can," said the woman.

"Er--you don't understand," Annie said.

"Oh, I understand plenty," said the woman. "And don't worry. It gets easier with time."

And with that, the woman left, leaving Annie alone in the ladies' room to contemplate her next move.
