The harsh tundra of Mars

Your entire family lives on the "Red Planet" of the Sol System. For several centuries people had talked about ways to terraform Earth's nearest neighbor for colonization, but they never dreamed it would happen like this.

Your parents were both sent here in shackles, almost everyone who crashed on Mars with them died abandoned to fend for themselves with nothing assuming they survived the impact. by some miracle your parents survived to the surface, somehow they found each other and began to carve out a life in a world where no one was expecting them to find one. But they did, they beat the odds and they gave birth to you and all your siblings.

You were born on this uninhabitable rock, the immediate victim of a war you never saw fought, but the suffering was just a part of your life. You were old enough to understand the irregular meteor showers were actually falling containers full of people that Earth rejected, there were so many of them. Most of the ones who survived the crash didn't survive the world.

Mars was named after an ancient god of war, and only the most determined beat the odds and survived on this world. Your parents taught you to be resourceful, cautious, and determined, you were their first child, no one thought you would live, but you did. There are very few people your age on Mars, but you didn't know any different.

When charity finally brought water to the sky you were old enough to remember how the world literally changed, in a few months the air of the planet became breathable and you saw the color green for the first time outside of the domes. Your mother and father both cried, so touched that there was anyone beyond the clouds who cared about them. You were imprinted with that memory, it gave you a purpose you hadn't had before, you were going to change the world, you were going to make this world a place where suffering and struggle weren't the only options.

Through hard work and relentless pursuit of bettering your colony you yourself have become something of a beacon of hope among your village, a survivor with the courage and ingenuity to fashion a fate bigger than the cards you were dealt, and kindness that gave anyone in your presence the chance to believe that the future was worth living to see. Your dedication to your dome earned you a personal invite from the capital, a sprawling colony that formed around one of the first domes. The letter spoke of a space program, a chance to seize the future of Mars beyond the sky before Earth could rob them of you of that future.

You have just arrived at the capital city, you are had heard that it had grown outside the dome, but you didn't realize how many domes that was until you saw it. Also all of the domes had been completely refitted for purely agriculture needs and the people of the city braved the freezing outside. Impressed and inspired by the courage of the people here you follow the directions to your new job with the Martian space program.
