The beginning of a plan.

The map shows an elongated island, with no indicator of scale or direction. Jade grimaces, but lets her eyes drift over the paper. She sees a couple of blue lines across the paper, following the contours of the local geography, rivers or streams, she thinks, _if I can find one of them, then maybe I can figure out exactly where I am on this island. The rest of the map is little more use at this time, there are probably a hundred or more little red dots, some on little squares on the map, but others by themselves. The squares are probably buildings, so potential safe houses. The rest of them are in the open? _She wonders briefly.

"First thing I need to do is get my bearings, find a landmark that appears on the map so I can figure out where I'm at." Jade says softly to herself, "Once I know where I'm at on the island, then I can start figuring out where the prize money might be."

Stuffing the map back into her pack, she slings the backpack back over her shoulder and starts to follow the edge of the wooded area, close enough to open ground to keep her bearings, but far enough inside the treeline to offer her some degree of cover.

"Hour's up ladies!" The man from before says, the sound of his voice reverberating across the island from a thousand speakers, "Let the games begin."

Just a few seconds after the announcement, somewhere in the distance, Jade hears one of the other girls scream in fear.
