Chapter 8 by Halcyon Halcyon

Who Is It? And Do You End Up Changing Them, Accidentally Or Not?

The Queen Of The Castle Arrives!

“AHH!” You continue to yell, the sheer **** of your trigger discipline keeping your finger from pulling down the way people keep from slamming on their brakes while sliding on thin ice.

“AHH!” Shouts the person across from you, pointing a finger at you as if to mirror the gun they can’t see, while their posture straightens out opposite to you, pointing rigidly in the other direction—though the stance admittedly does much better things for her than for you, sending her bountiful bust jiggling gently in place the way that no amount of rendering could ever replicate.

The sight of that actually manages to calm you down a bit, and once you become relatively certain that you’re not about to accidentally squeeze out a reality change all over this poor soul, your yell gradually peters out to a shrill whine. Your new companion does pretty much the same thing, relaxing her pitch and her posture to imitate yours, demonstrating that she had probably only been screaming because you started first. “That was fun!” Nora Valkyrie said, pumping her fist high in the air, before bringing a finger down to rest against her confused pout. "But, why exactly were we screaming again…?”

You sigh, and make sure to put the gun away so that you can think straight as you take in the woman before you. Nora might have escaped your initial summary of the show’s main hotties, but she was still one of the most important characters in the show, a member of the team known as JNPR that got just as much if not more attention, at times, than the main team. Nora served as the muscle, based on the mighty god Thor no less, and wielded a giant hammer that could also change to become a grenade launcher on occasion. She was additionally a bit, what was the word…

You watch as Nora pulls out a miniature bottle of what appeared to be maple syrup, daintily screws the cap off, and downs it with one jerk of her head like a shot glass, before throwing the empty bottle over her shoulder with a crashing of glass and a brushing of her hands. “Gosh, all that shouting left me parched!”

…quirky. You were going to go with quirky.

With a start, you suddenly realized that she was actually waiting for a legitimate answer to her fairly legitimate question, about why you were apparently screaming in the middle of a plaza for no reason. You began scrambling through your cover story to find an excuse that fit, before words just sort of start tumbling out of your mouth like a Beacon student taking their entrance exam. “Uh… I was… just… the… library! Yep, the library, it’s… you’re not allowed to shout in there. So, every once in a while, I just come out here, to…” You smile sheepishly, stopping short of actually screaming again, and leaning steadily back as you watch her discerning gaze wash over you, her eyes narrowing, her posture leaning in, all while the sheer **** of her contemplation bakes your story like fresh cookies—

Ding!

“Makes sense to me!” Nora says finally, leaning back with a shrug.

You breathe out a gasp that you didn’t realize you’d been holding in, before patting your own self on the back for definitely being so clever and creative when making your history for this world. With that done, Nora begins looking around, evidently having lapsed back to remembering why she was in this section of the school in the first place. “Say Mr. Haverty, have you seen my friend Ren around here? Tall, thin, kind of looks mad about a certain person eating their lunch? Doesn’t know that if he didn’t make such delicious lunches, it wouldn’t be a problem?”

“Uh. No. I haven’t, sorry.” You respond, and her features promptly fall in a frown. As she turns to determinedly scan the space that you’re both standing in as though her friend might suddenly pop out of a bush, you reflect on how one of her other defining characteristics was her deep bond with the very Lie Ren she was talking about; a boy every bit her opposite, even though they’d just about never been separated since they were both kids. His somber, intent look on life served as the perfect mirror to Nora’s wild impulsiveness, and the two generally bounced off of one another constantly in any situation that they happened to be in. In other words, when it came to Ren, Nora was pretty much the perfect…

…accomplice…

Your eyes narrow and your mouth tugs up to a smirk as you draw the gun back out of your pocket, aiming it right at the center of Nora’s back. Here was a person who basically had an entire life’s worth of experience being the other half of a duo, supporting, caring for, and just generally bailing out her partner each time they needed it. She had a great body to boot, and if you were being totally honest, all of her quirks actually went a long way to making her way more attractive to you, not less. Plus, your book had gone through all of the trouble to bring her here, so it had just about made the choice for you, right? All that was left to do was to think of the right words…

You glance down at your gun, furrow your brow, and begin to think out your command.

‘When Nora Valkyrie is hit with this bullet, she will become just as perverted as I am. She will have all of my same sexual tastes, up to and including what I think about other women, and while she will still like men, she will prefer me above all others and will generally only pursue them as she normally would when I am not around. This change will affect her from the moment she arrived at Beacon, with her struggling to deal with letting out her perverted nature before she met me, who she now thinks of as her perfect pervert partner. She will treasure this bond just as much as, if not more at times, than the bond she has with her friend Lie Ren, though there will never not be a place for both of us in her life. She and the rest of Beacon will remember me as having just come back from a long trip, and while she will not remember any specifics of the perverted acts that we got up to before I left, she will be definitely sure that she loved them and will want to do more again as soon as possible.’

There, that pretty much covered all of your bases, and even left her and Ren partially together to boot. Take that, conscience! Habitually, you started to make one of the same poses that you’d been in before, now that the only other person who could call you on it was facing entirely the other direction. “Reach for the sky.” You murmur, not able to stop the anticipation from coloring your voice as your finger begins to squeeze on the trigger, intending to make it count this time.

Nora immediately looks straight up, bracing her eyes against the sun as she cocked her head to the side. “What? Why? The sky’s all the way up there, silly! No way would I be able to reach it from here! Aren’t you librarians supposed to be smart?”

You sigh. “Never mind.” You say, and fire.

Does Nora Change As Planned? How Does She React To The Changes If So?
