The Precipice of Despair

I sat at the dinner table just thinking. It was 2 am and I couldn't sleep. I had work tomorrow and I would be brutally tired but it didn't matter. Nothing mattered. I worked in a media building surrounded by women and foreigners who all got special treatment and bonuses and equity awards and I got extra work and no credit. Our job was mostly to produce content that would infuriate both sides of the political spectrum in order to generate ad revenue and clicks. Most days I worked for the people around me while all of them were busy blogging or checking for the latest outrage in the world. The women would try to bait me into saying or doing something inappropriate so they could get me fired without pay. I had so far avoided these traps.

The whole fucking world was corrupt. The governments, the media, the schools, everyone was working to make money and retain power off the backs of the collapse of the West, and here I was helping to push it along. I wanted to do something. God, did I want to punish some people. The manager in charge of our floor would openly do coke and steal budget money for herself. If we lived in a just society I could report her behavior and have her removed. But we didn't live in one of those. I would probably be accused of **** or something and arrested. I wish SOMETHING would happen to fix all of this. I equally wished I could just lose hope and give up on thinking it was ever going to get fixed, but for some reason I couldn't bring myself to do that either. I was in Hell. Both outside my home and inside.

My wife, Lisa, was cheating on me. She had been for 4 years, different guys too. She had tried to hide it at first but she made no effort now. We both knew that the second I said anything, I would be handed divorce papers and I would get to move out to an apartment while I still paid for the house. I would just be another statistic of a failed marriage and an idiot guy. My daughters weren't much better.

Kathrine had shaved her head, gotten tattoos, and had been throwing molotov cocktails through business windows during the summer. Her college experience resulted in her total brainwash and she was a hardcore, feminist commie who believed that everything needed to be torn down (something we actually agreed on) and rebuilt into a glorious centralized state.

Megan was the opposite. She was a very beautiful, busty blonde girl who made lots of money whoring her body on livestreams and MyFans. Everyone in the world had seen my daughter's body at this point, even me I'm ashamed to admit. I wasn't exactly perfect myself. I was a hound dog who had retreated into watching porn as a means of avoiding my wife and having to face the fact that I was shit. I also was not very healthy and I ate some of my problems down pretty heavily. I wasn't disgustingly fat, but obese would certainly be accurate. If I had more anger to go along with my hatred of this world I might be able to change things but no. I was what you might call a beta, keeping my problems to myself and just silently hoping for something to change. Here I was wallowing in self pity, for example, when the room around me was swallowed in an endless darkness.

I had a fleeting thought that maybe I was having a heart attack and this was the end. I had made it to the finish line without losing my hope but the figure before me did not let me enjoy that comfort. It said some things that I had hardly paid attention to, and it fed me this worm thing. Oh it asked a question, and I hadn't answered.

"Wow, this is a lot to process. You're giving me power?" I asked incredulously. "I get to pick these abilities?"

"As long as it adds up to the 14 points I have started you with, yes mortal. I am giving you this power." Golthuem thundered.

"Why me?" I asked quietly, not wanting to remind the God that I was in fact, shitty at everything.

"I sensed that this power would do you good. I sensed too a deep feeling of injustice in your heart and I felt compelled to assist with that. I could find someone else if you..."

"No! No, this is... this is awesome! Okay, let me see here." I said looking at the table of powers and drawbacks before me. " I don't want to run out of points so let's start with the drawbacks." I said. "Unnatural Aura is literally a boon as far as I can tell, people should fear me now."

"I've always thought so too. Very well, 15 points."

"Cosmic Alignment is fine, I don't need to grow quickly and I could use the points. I also want to make the Slaver's Pact with you." I said to the demon thing.

"Oh ho! I knew you were a smart one, okay you have to take 8 boons and I will gladly sign the pact. That brings you to 20 points." The Old God looked pleased.

"I agree with Molag Bal and her pact of domination. The world I plan to create will probably make her happy but you give an extra point. And on a world of 7 billion people, what's 2,500 in the end?" I said. "Okay, now for the method and type of **** I want the Parasite and Conditioned Slaves. But I have a question. If I have the parasite breed in the person's mind, will they be functional for the 2 months or will they be incapacitated?"

"They will be functional for MOST of the 2 months. They will start to deteriorate a bit in the last week and they might need to be looked after."

"Very well, I can work with that. For powers I am taking Flesh Sculptor and Expanded Mind." I said.

"Fun and useful respectively. Alright now you owe me 8 boons and have 10 points left."

"Okay, I want the core of Self-hypno," The Old God cut me off.

"That one DOESN'T count toward your 8 by the way."

"I assumed that it wouldn't. I still want it. I also want, immortality, triggers, orgasm control, tireless servant, cum addiction, cum production, fertility, and induce fetish. That should put me at zero." I said.

"It does, your choices are interesting. You don't want to rewrite their memories or personalities?"

"Of course I do. But they have been corrupt and terrible for me and this world. I want to reforge them the hard way." I said with a sinister grin.

"You could choose normalize and deal with them in public, isolating them from the world. Also helps you to not get caught." Offered the God. Getting caught? The thought hadn't occurred to me. Would anyone believe someone who said they had a worm in their ear controlling their thoughts? "All they would have to do is check their ear to confirm their story. And yes, I can read your thoughts. You picked the Conditioned slaves meaning they could disobey you at first, immediately go to a physician and reveal your plan. The downfall of almost every Mindslaver is arrogance."

"Perhaps, but I cannot die. Even if they caught me and sentenced me to life in prison I could wait for the building to crumble to ruin around me and I could walk out." I said.

"They would kill the worm. I will NOT give you a replacement. They are very easy to squish and that would put an end to your world domination, outside of what powers you give yourself. That would also invalidate your pact with me and trust me human, you do NOT want to invalidate your pact with me." The God looked at me with a glare. I swallowed hard but I stood fast in my resolve.

"Very well. I will be careful. I stand by my decisions though." I said firmly.

"Very well. I look forward to seeing you this time next year, October 13th. Mark it on your calendar, DON'T make me remind you. Here," he pulled another worm out and handed it to me in a small corked glass vial. "This is your first worm, guard it with your life. Humans have a habit of stepping on them. Okay, I am off. Enjoy your new power, Mindslaver, and good luck."

The darkness retreated from the kitchen and the lights from the dining room lights came back into view. I would've been sure I was hallucinating but in my hands was a little glass vial and a worm wriggling around in it. I looked around the room and took it all in. My senses were amplified and I could smell the flowers on the coffee table across the room from here. I could hear sirens that were exactly 14 blocks away and moving closer, I could even hear an airplane flying over head. I focused and brought my senses back in check. I opened my eyes and smiled. This was going to be fun.
