The Naughty Pukwudgie - Part 2

We cut to another car on the same road. Inside, we see a young couple. They are Tony (played by Steven R. McQueen) and Becky (played by Karyn Halpin). She looks bored.

BECKY: -I don’t know what you see in it, really…

TONY: -Oh, come on! Aren’t you tired of seeing concrete and buildings? We need contact with nature, every now and then! A couple of weeks in the woods will do us good.

BECKY: -Why? Forests are boring, and full of bugs…

TONY: -But you’re from Canada!

BECKY: -Precisely. I got away from there because I already wasted too many years of my life looking at trees. Why do you think I moved to Manhattan?

TONY (sighs): -Just give it a try, okay?

BECKY: -I just don’t see the point in sleeping in a tiny cabin in some forest in New Jersey, when we could be sleeping at a nice hotel in Florida.

TONY: -We can take walks in the woods, swim at the lake, observe the flora and fauna…

BECKY: -Tony, really… If you had grown up in Canada, looking at squirrels wouldn't feel exciting to you either…

TONY: -Hahaha… Okay, I give you that. Just think of it as a break from our everyday lives, an adventure…

BECKY: -An adventure was moving from a tiny Canadian village to New York, not spending two weeks sleeping in an uncomfortable bed in some isolated forest in the middle of nowhere…

TONY: -I only booked this campsite because they have cabins and you wanted it. If it was for me, I’d be sleeping in a tent, as I always did.

BECKY: -Keep dreaming… There’s no way I’d sleep two weeks in a camping tent.

TONY: -And I accepted it. See? I compromised. All I’m asking is that you do the same.

BECKY: -I am here, am I not?

TONY: -Yes you are, and I love you for that.

BECKY: -Well, next time you feel like complaining about me not being romantic, remember this: I accepted to waste my few days off work looking at trees at some boring campsite full of bugs, just to make you happy. If that doesn't demonstrate how much I love you, I don't know what does.

TONY: -Oh, Becky… This is actually the most romantic thing you’ve said in the last two years…

BECKY: -We’ve only known each other for a year and a half.

TONY: -Exactly.
