The Metropolis Sewer System

Things seem to be going pretty okay for you, all things considered. You're about half of the way to work and not one crook, criminal, or botany-themed villain has decided to make your day worse than it already is. Letting down your guard, you pull out your phone. Distracted by your mobile-miracle, you don't see the open manhole in the middle of the sidewalk. Before you know it, you've checked into the Metropolis sewer system.

"You have to be FUCKING kidding me!"

No, I am not fucking kidding you. The ladder leading out of the sewer has long since rusted away, so the only way out is through the winding concrete chasms. You suck it up and begin your plunge into the rat-infested pipelines.

"This day just gets better and better..."

Making your way through the sewers is no easy task, and before long you are lost. As you walk, you notice something slowly creeping its way up the walls.

"Are those... vines?"

You follow the plant-like structures until they lead you out of the sewers and back onto the streets. Though initially relieved, it soon dawns on you that you have no idea where you are or how you got there. You look around for any discernible landmarks, and find none. The only thing you can think to do is continue to follow the vines and hope they lead you somewhere you recognize.
