The Magician's Quarter.

Temples and shrines marked the borders of the magic district, as priests tried desperately to restrain the ‘unholiness’ within. The temples didn’t interest Shairi – being raised by a whore and a witch hadn’t given her much appreciation for religion, especially the dominant Church of the Lady of Light.

It was what was beyond the temples that interested her – the riotous colour and activity of the magical district. Street dealers sold potions and talismans, but Shairi suspected the better stuff would be in the quieter backstreet shops.

Illusionists and conjurers demonstrated their art on every street corner, creating stunning mystical display to entertain the passers-by (and earn a few coins). And above it rose the towers of the mages guild. The sight of them, with strange lights glowing from some of their highest windows, filled her with excitement.
