Chapter 5 by Shinjamaru0982 Shinjamaru0982

Were do you head?

The Den but update my stats on the way

I decided to go to the den. I opened the starter kit I received. I put on the leather vest, and bracers for my arms and legs. I'm still barefoot, but my clawed feet really don't need shoes.

I also have five days of travel rations and water, which I immediately eat and drink a portion of. It's not the tastiest meal but now I don't need to worry about food for at least four days before needing to actively hunt.

Looking at my HP I see that I was almost topped up. I decided to start making my way to the den. As I started walking I opened up my menu to the RACE tab.

Name: none

Line: Draconic

Tier: Greater Kobold, (Tier 1, Level 1)

'No name? I guess who I was before died when I entered the world. I'll have to think up a name for myself. No ASOIAF reference for that though, I prefer things closer to skyrim's Dovahzul as language. Sounds more ancient.' File that for another time I knew I wasn’t going to suffer remaining a kobold my first goal as far my personal growth would be getting to at a lesser dragonoid.

I start mentally pouring Exp into my kobold class until it levels up. Gauging how high the increase will be.

LEVEL UP!

Greater Kobold (Tier 1, Level 2)

EXP: 0/150

LEVEL UP!

Greater Kobold (Tier 1, Level 3)

EXP: 0/225

‘Oh, I could work with that. Those levels were barely a drop in the bucket. I’ll check my passives and abilities first, plan my point spread, then head to level and spread out my points.’

Checking my passives first, I switch over to the appropriate tab.

Passives

Draconic Might (1 of 6): The Power of the mighty dragon runs in your veins. Gain a 500% boost to your base stats. Furthermore every additional point counts as 5. However you only get 20% of your total exp gains.

Upgrade cost: 8 AP must be tier 2

‘So, it can be upgraded, but it costs 2 levels to do so. I’ll do one to see the end result and see if the upgrades are worth it.’

Mentally appling the AP to my passive. I was shocked by the result.

Passives

Draconic Might (2 of 5): The Power of the mighty dragon runs in your veins. Gain a 500% boost to your base stats. Furthermore every additional point counts as 5. However you only get 25% of your total exp gains.

Upgrade cost: 16 AP must be at least tier 2

"And that Ladies and Gentlemen is why I'll end the world. I really do need to think up a name though. One suitably badass enough for someone of my stature."

It also showed that some of my abilities might be rank locked. Well for now let's just be glad for the saved exp.

Switching over to the abilities tab I look at exactly what I'm working with.

Racial abilities:

Fangs (tier 1 of 10): Why grandmother what big teeth you have! These chompers can be used as weapons though not a strong one. Deal 3+ STR modifier.

Upgrade cost: 2 AP

breath weapon (tier 1 of 10): Got a breath mint? Your breath is capable of using an element you have specialized in, though it doesn't have a lot of stopping power. 1+INT modifier.

Upgrade cost: 4 AP

Wings (tier 1 of 10): Spread'em! You got wings! While they are too small and weak for you to fly with, they can slow your fall. Take 50% less damage from falling.

Upgrade cost: 2 AP

Claws/Talons (tier 1 of 10): Kitty got claws! You have claws and talons! Though they're not quite strong enough to be weapons, but they boost both climbing and burrowing by 50%.

Upgrade cost: 2 AP

Tail swipe (tier 1 of 10): stop that wagging! Your tail is just big enough to be used as a weapon. Not particularly strong though. 1+STR modifier cause people to trip

Upgrade cost: 2 AP

'Okay that everything at least starts pretty cheap. I'll bring everything to the second tier and how my options spread from there.'

Mentally applying the exp to my Monster class while traveling towards the den.

‘Alright, not quite enough to the next teir. Still better than being a level 1 scrub in my race of all things.’ I stop briefly to judge how much farther to what I can now smell is definitely a den. To my shock I'm barely a mile out. I don’t even feel tired.

‘Okay, maybe being a 5’1 kobold isn't too bad. For now at least. Still rather be a dragonoid out right.’

I come to a stop and sit down. Still trying to understand this savannah. I could still smell animals. I can even see some in the distance but nothing closer than a half mile out. ‘They are watching me. Of course they're watching me, I landed like a meteor which must have freaked them out, then I started moving while seemingly gaining power rapidly for no apparent reason.’

Coming to the conclusion that none of the creatures are unlikely to approach till they have a better read on me, I decide to finish updating myself before simply running the rest of the way to the den.

Name: none

Line: Draconic

Tier: Greater Kobold, (Tier 1, Level 10)

HP per level: 15+CON modifier

Mana per level: 10+INT modifier

Stamina per level: 10+CON modifier

Skill Points per level:2+INT modifier

Exp: 0/3,855

Passives: Draconic Might

Racial abilities: Fangs (tier 1), breath weapon (tier 1), Wings (tier 1), Claws/Talons (tier 1), Tail swipe (tier 1)

AP:28

I quickly open the abilities tab, and begin upgrading my abilities to the next tier to how much stronger they become.

Racial abilities:

Fangs (tier 2 of 10): Why grandmother what big teeth you have! These chompers can be used as weapons though not a strong one. Deal 5+ STR modifier. You can also lock your jaw to for a grapple.

Upgrade cost: 3 AP

breath weapon (tier 2 of 10): Got a breath mint? Your breath is capable of using an element you have specialized in, though it doesn't have a lot of stopping power it does hit multiple people in about three in a single shot. 2 +INT modifier

Upgrade cost: 6 AP

Wings (tier 2 of 10): Spread'em! You got wings! While their too small and weak to fly with, they can however be used to glide, and give a 30% boost to any jump you make. Take 50% less damage from falling.

Upgrade cost: 3 AP

Claws/Talons (tier 2 of 10): Kitty got claws! You have claws and talons! Though their strong enough to be weapons, though not power ones. They also boost both climbing and burrowing by 50%. 2+STR modifier.

Upgrade cost: 3 AP

Tail swipe (tier 2 of 10): stop that wagging! Your tail is just big enough to be used as a weapon. Not particularly strong though. 2+STR modifier. Can cause people to trip

Upgrade cost: 3 AP

'That's much better. Since I'm going under ground claws/talons and tail swipe is going to be the playmakers so focus on that first.

Claws/Talons (tier 3 of 10): Kitty got claws! You have claws and talons! They are strong enough to be used as weapons, a 30% boost to grappling, and boost both climbing and burrowing by 50%. 4+STR modifier.

Upgrade cost: 4 AP must be Tier 2 to upgrade

Tail swipe (tier 3 of 10): stop that wagging! Your tail is strong enough to be used as a weapon. 4+STR modifier. Can cause people to trip, and strike twice in

Upgrade cost: 4 AP must be tier 2 to upgrade

‘Okay 14 points left, I’ll want to upgrade my [Draconic Might] next level. That means I really don't have any AP left to work with. I should probably see what skills I have to work with.'

Switching over to the skills tab, I look at the relatively small list of skills at magic disposal.

SKILLS

SP: 654

Forage(common tier1): This skill allows one to find edible plants, berries, nuts, etc out in the wild. You kinda suck at it for now. 10% Boost chance to find plant based foods/ingredients. 50% to misidentify poisonous ones. Special: rangers cut penalties 50% in lands they have a lore in.

Upgrade cost: 10 SP

Hunt (common tier 1): This is your ability to track, hunt, and rend down wild animals. You stomp like an elephant. 10% boost to animal lot. 50% chance to spook. Special: rangers cut penalties 50% in lands they have a lore in.

Upgrade cost: 10 SP

Brawl(common tier 1): The ability to just wildly fight. You don't even know what you don't about fighting. 10% boost to attack and defense lower by 50%.

Upgrade cost: 10 SP

Observe (common tier1): Your ability to draw information from the world around you. You tune most of the world out, so you only gain the most basic information. 10% boost to any attempt to gain information about a place, person, or object looking, smelling or touching. Special: using multiple senses stack boost.

Upgrade cost: 10 SP

My options were small at the moment so I decided to max out observe and brawl to see how good these can be since I can afford it.

Observe (common tier max): Your ability to draw information from the world around you. Your senses are sharp and your mind clear, so you can get fairly accurate information with just a glance. 50% boost to any attempt to gain information about a place, person, or object looking, smelling or touching. Special: using multiple senses stack boost

Brawl(common tier max): The ability to just wildly fight. You don't know a lot about fighting but you're better than most amateurs. 60% boost to attack and defense lower by 10%.

'Much better. So should be able to handle anything in the den should things turn ugly with only these skills, as for stats I'll spread them evenly for now.'

Switching over to stats. I see I have 105 stats to and do 16 in each and save the 11 remaining points for later. Leaving my stats as follows.

[STATS]

STR:142

DEX:142

CON:142

INT:140

WIS:140

LUK:140

"Hot damn, I feel amazing! Let's give my new speed a test!"

Standing and giving myself a quick stretch I ran towards the den as fast as I could. My clawed feet ,and tail were the only reason I didn't fall over. I couldn't wait to see how amazing flying would be. In about 4 minutes I make it the den.

"Hah, hah So..this is what stamina drain feels like. I hope I get a sprint skill after this. Otherwise prolonged fights might be a problem."

Looking at the den while I wait for my stamina to recover. I see translucent words floating above it. A sure sign of my gamer ability.

DUNGEON: [DEN OF THE LORD OF GRASS]

recommended party level: 60

[Enter] [Flee]

I grinned. Looks like I might have to touch grass after all.

Do You enter?
