The CVI (Cyber-Viral Implant)

A Cyber Viral Implant or CVI is an advanced form of Bio-Technology obtained from an Alien Species called The Taelon. The CVI is a Benign Cyber-Virus, Part-Computer Chip and Part-Taelon Engineered Microbe which once adapted to its Host's Unique Neuro-Chemistry grants those implanted (commonly called Implants) access to more than the standard 30% of The Brain allowed under law by Medical Genetic Engineering. It doesn't simply increase Basic Intelligence but Exponentially Enhances Memory, Creativity, Resourcefulness, and Motor Function. The CVI is essential for the operation of a Skrill and like The Skrill it is used almost exclusively by Pan Global Security to ensure the Loyalty and Neutrality of it's Agents.

Overview:

Even without The CVI, The Brain works much like a computer. There's Short-Term Memory or Ram (Random Access Memory) and then there's Long-Term Memory which is the equivalent of a Computer Hard Drive. The Brain's Hard Drive is The Hippocampus. For a CVI to process data organically, it has to be connected to The Hippocampus.

The process of creating The Cerebral Implant begins with a Single Nano-Cell implanted in The Brain's Cerebral Cortex which introduces Genetically-Engineered DNA into The Genes of The Cerebral Cortex. The Engineered DNA contains a Synthetic Persona Suite of Genes (A Gene-Modification of Behavior) consisting of over 100 Genetically-Engineered Gene Mutations that influence The Brain's Neuro-Chemistry and create Programmable Behavioral Architecture.

Once the Engineered Genes have been inserted, The Nano-Cell begins replicating itself, replacing the cells around it with perfect copies. The Brain organically incorporates The CVI into its systems over time giving an implant access to a vast assortment of skills and abilities depending on how long they have been implanted.
