That thing

"What thing?" Karan jumped in excited.

"Oh, I almost forgot! I can't believe I almost forgot!" Roma looked embarrassed, but regained her composure. "You were right, Erin did dump her boyfriend. I heard from one of the other interns-"

"I told you so!" Apsra's voice was almost a wail. Karan had never seen her that amused.

"But I thought they were soulmates! They were so perfect for each other and they even had those knitted caps in that instagram post. I was so sure they were moving in together..."

"I always thought it was kind-of fake how they had to post every single thing online..."

"She seems to be having fun, and probably doesn't want to bore me with all these drama, which is probably why she doesn't say much about her work..." Karan thought, as he watched his wife come alive, animated in discussing the love life of this Erin.

Later when Apsra excused herself to the bathroom, Karan slipped in another question about the boutique. Roma laughed it off.

"You are really worried about her, aren't you?"

Karan scratched his head and grinned. "Hehe, I guess... She's really shy so I worry about how she's fitting in..."

"You shouldn't worry, she handles all her tasks really well and is doing great! She may even get a permanent position!"

"Wow! I thought it was a 3-month internship... Does the hiring committee decide that early?"

"Our girl is leading the race. The designers like her um.. work ethics a lot, which is why I'm pretty sure she'll get it. The only thing in her way is the performance review." Roma seemed to blush at that for some reason. "After which, she'll become a junior designer!"

Karan grinned. Apsra seemed to be doing really well, and was even in line for a permanent position. The increased income would surely help them move out into a newer apartment faster, probably even purchase their own.
