Chapter 3 by Relator10 Relator10

What's next?

Terra Duplexis

Terra Duplexis is similar to the contemporary Earth with a similar distribution of landmasses and climatic regions and a similar level of technology.

It is home to two known sentient species with a twin double helix, a Wild helix with instructions for the animal characteristics of the body, and Humanoid helix with instructions for the human characteristics of the body. Those that are expressing animal characteristic are known as Wildkin.
Those that are not expressing animal characteristic are known as Human.

Depending on the ratio between the Wild genes and the Humanoid genes that are being expressed
you have the Humans with no Wild genes being expressed and only Humanoid genes being expressed and two groups of Wildkin with both genes being expressed.

The Wildkin having a smaller portion of the Wild genes expressed and thus showing external animal characteristics such as cat, dog, rabbit, fox or wolf ears and tails to name the most common ones and Wildkin having a larger share of the Wild genes expressed and thus not only showing external animal characteristic but also having the ability to naturally lay edible eggs or produce dairy milk to names the most common ones to the rare such as naturally producing spider silk.

For years the world has been segregated into Human territories and Wildkin territories.

About thirty years ago a first paper was published proving that Wildkin and Humans had a common ancestor which Prof Eduardo Hill (Human) and Prof Jan Mclaughlin (Fox Wildkin), the authors of the paper, dubbed Highkin after an ancient text named "Highkin", actually more a poem, about how the Wildkin and Human came to be discovered by Prof Kathleen Mclaughlin (Kathy), Anthropology (Fox Wildkin).

The single fact that the paper was published was no small feat because it was the first of more or less structured cooperation between the Human and the Wildkin, spearheaded by academics of both.

In their research, they discovered that DNA of certain genetic material is naturally passed on unadulterated maternal. Thus making this DNA a group trait because the only way you can have a difference in that DNA is by having a different ancestor, but this also means that anyone having that same DNA must have the same ancestor.

So launching a widespread research program they succeeded in retrieving genetic material from every kind of Wildkin and Human, against all odds at times.

Analysis of all the genetic material saw three prime DNA sequences emerging, corresponding with the three known groups in society.
Thus three groups with each the same mutation on one mother DNA.
This leads the researcher to the following conclusion, there must have been one progenitor which in time had three mutations.
Therefore they gave their paper the title “The Daughters of Highkin Eve”.

However not everybody was thrilled by this conclusion claiming that the Highkin mentioned in the ancient text “Highkin” were not our common ancestor but were reborn as the Creator of the Wildkin and Human and also that according to the same text Wildkin and Human were meant to stay separated.
All this being said, this was in retrospect probably the first step that eventually resulted in the present-day pilot project at Florida University, Port Paradise, slowly admitting Wildkin into the student body.

During the research for their paper they also noticed that some persons were into pet play and said that they found it enjoying and fulfilling.
