Chapter 3 by JimJoeBob JimJoeBob

...

Syliah and Uorith

The evil seed of Duke Emon who's character came about thanks to his neglect of them and focus on their elder brother. The two have put their dirty hands all over the government as they prepare the throne for one of their devilish behinds, planning and waiting ever since their brother's demise and even more so since their father's failing health. But only one may take it and a secret war is on the horizon for which sibling might overtake the other as they garner support and the Duke refuses to choose even in his last hours. But as a new guildmaster you will be approached by them as you and your heroes will be seen as way to get the support of the people or a way to influence the nobles after some shady deals that the shadows could tell you if you paid them enough. You may even be cunning enough to play both for a while, but you will have to choose whose side you're truly on and will be your ally as the next Duke or Duchess.

Syliah is the youngest of the Duke's children, nearing her forties but always finding away to hide her age. She is vain and likes to feel superior to everyone at every chance. You show off something expensive or rare, she'll buy an even rarer and more expensive object and make sure you know about it. Her game is with the nobles and one of bartering with promises and the work of third, forth, and sometimes fifth parties to ensure a low price and cost if things go sour. Many of the nobles and wealthy elite are in her pockets and seek her for their shady business because they know she is reliable and cunning. Something to note is her hatred of the church and a desire to see the poor turned into laborers to be kept in camps with little to no way of escape from a fate they never chose.

The middle child, Uorith, is a little older than his sister but seems to have less notoriety amongst the powerful people who could see him on the throne. But that was never his game, he a level or two lower than Syliah in a game so dark that only he can see all the pieces. Uorith had a skill for the mercantile and proved himself enough to be appointed treasurer, where he had access to all of the country's banks and every loan through him was well as all transaction records. He closely studied the books to learn how these people did business and what secrets might be hidden in the numbers all while skimming negligible amounts out into his pockets. These became investments into all sorts of businesses that mostly act as fronts where his mercenaries, bandits, and thieves can hide and strike at the **** fat cats when Uorith catches wind of something. When someone's bank account gets big enough, he hit them with a ransom for a loved one and takes their gold. But what is most valuable is secrets and information which he stores for **** when Aquintia's throne stands empty and he wishes no one to stand in his way. If sat on the throne, his criminal empire would slowly move into the light and a darker sky would cloud a country living in fear.
