Chapter 8 by Lusc Lusc

What do you do?

Spend time with table three.

As Josie walks away you take a look over your shoulder towards the aforementioned table. Sure enough, a relaxed woman leaning in her chair lazily toys with her drink while eyeing you. The look on her face is telling. You feel almost like she's undressing you, but despite being objectified there's that something draws you to her. The confident tomboy sports short dark hair and a cute button nose. Her lips curl into a sultry grin as you each come to the realization that you're staring at each other. Well, it'd be awkward to turn away now, you think.

Approaching the girl, you prepare to shyly introduce yourself but thankfully she takes the lead.
"Hey, good looking." she starts.
"H-Hello, Miss." you stammer, caught a bit off guard.
"Did you come over to refill my cup or was there something else you wanted?" she leans towards you and clinks her half empty mug on the table.
"Oh, no. I was wondering if you wanted to talk."
"About what?" she smiles.
"Well, I uh... You.." she continues grinning, now leaning back as you struggle to speak something coherent and normal. A lifetime segregated from the opposite sex hasn't exactly prepared you for this kind of thing.

"I'm actually on break and you looked like someone fun to talk to." nailed it, you think to yourself.
"Oh, cute. Well I'd love some company before the evening is over." she says with a chuckle, clearly amused by you in some way.
After having a seat she tells you her name is Mag and then proves to be as interesting as she's attractive. While having a meal across the table, Mag tells you of her journeys while nursing her beer. The tomboy describes a rich history of travel through the lands, it's adventurous and captivating. When you ask her why she's traveled so much she tells you she's a mercenary, doing "miscellaneous" work for cash. "That sounds dangerous." you mention. Eventually she asks you about your past and you give a little summary while leaving some ugly bits out. She doesn't pry which is nice and she even jokes about the parts that would otherwise be unfortunate and unfunny. You're starting to like this girl.

A bit later, Mag is working you up, describing a scene from a battle she fought in when the clock rears up to ruin everything. Josie calls for you from behind the bar. Time sure went by fast. With all the dramatic build up in shambles, Mag scoffs.
"Well, you'd better be a good boy and get back to work, Taylor." The disappointment in her voice is obvious.
"Yeah... I need to go. It was nice talking to you, Mag."
"Same. By the way, I'm staying the night in room 8." she says getting up from the table. Leaning over, she whispers in your ear.
"Don't be shy." she says in a sultry tone, punctuating the thing with a kiss on your cheek.

After parting ways the rest of your shift carries on. Tables come and go and the energy in the room peters out as the midnight hour drags long. In between tasks you repeatedly think of visiting Mag, right up until Josie lets you off for work. Tired from a day of waiting tables you collect yourself and wander down the hall to get some rest. You pause momentarily outside of room 8.

Do you visit Mag?
