Chapter 4 by Ignorethis Ignorethis

Towerling Index

Songstress/Hoppers

Species Number: TWL-02367/02368

Field Name: Hopper, Large Hopper

Special File: Songstress

Appearance: The Songstress is another special female human type of Towerling who has been changed by the Tower and given unique abilities like the Matriarch and the Siren. Like the other two, the Songstress's body loses any real imperfections and becomes highly desirable, but the Songstress also has the effect of having the left half of their hair and their left eye become a sharp light green color, while the other side remains the same. They have been known to wear clothes, but that is up to the Songstress's own personal preference it seems.

Hoppers take the appearance of very large grasshoppers that are about the size of a wild dog, and are a dark brown color. Large Hoppers are about the size of a bear, and are the same sharp light green as the Songstress's hair and eyes.

Abilities: The Songstress has the ability to sing a variety of melodies, and these melodies all have the effect of enthralling the woman the tune is aiming for. Depending on how effectively the Songstress sings, or how accurate the melody is towards the target they are aiming for, the woman might be downright fascinated by the song and seek out the songstress, they might try to ignore it, or they might need to find her. The song can travel great distances, and depending on how far away the target is, and the target may have to travel through Towerling territory to reach the Theater, and may be claimed by a different species before they can make it, but they will try their best to avoid this outcome. The melody is often tuned so that only person is able to hear, a little trick we haven't quite figured out yet. The songstress often only targets one woman at a time, because of this, but a talented one can try to draw in multiple at once. Then once they reach the Songstress's "Theater", depending on how powerful the melody is, the victim may be completely susceptible to any and all suggestions the Songstress makes, and they often only snap out of it once the Songstress stops singing, and starts moaning as she gets ready to impregnate the victim. Sometimes, A songstress can will even use an instrument to help her melody, like a harp in one case.

Large Hoppers and their smaller variants both exist as a "Chorus", and help the Songstress's song go further distances by relaying the song, or by singing the song in tandem with her. They are reliant on the Songstress to sing and can't enthrall women on their own, but they are physically capable creatures if need be. They don't have any special abilities otherwise, but they are still massive grasshoppers, so they can jump large distances, and they can still overpower someone if necessary.

Spawn: A Songstress considers the Hoppers her "Chorus", and she seeks to expand it to create a better performing arena. To do this, she gathers women, and impregnates them in a unique fashion to the Towerling Women. She has an ovipositor that extends out of her womb and into her victims, which lays around a dozen eggs in the victim's womb after the Songstress makes love to them. These eggs would gestate for about week, and the no longer enthralled victim would give birth to Large Hoppers, which grow to full size in about a week as well.

Large Hoppers on the other hand, can inseminate women with a penis like appendage they have, which causes light infection and the women would give birth to about two dozen small Hoppers in about three to four days. The smaller Hoppers have the same ability, and impregnate the same amount of small hoppers inside their victims, but are also much easier to fend of then their bear sized brethren.

Behavior: Songstresses are unique among the Female Towerlings, because they don't really care about assisting in spreading the other Towerlings, and only seek to spread their own existence and as such don't play nice with the other Towerling species. In fact, Songstresses down right hate Sirens, and there has been a recorded case of a Songstress enthralling a Siren and impregnating her with her eggs, only for the Siren to break out of enthrallment and become downright furious with the Songstress in question. The Siren still had to carry the Hoppers to term, as it stands, and it seems like the two species have a rivalry of sorts. Matriarchs and their handmaidens on the other hand, are immune to the Song and the Songstresses don't go after them or any infected women already claimed by another species.

Songstress behavior towards their victims is actually quite unique, however. They treat any women who comes to their concerts "Fans" and let them enjoy the song, often bringing them up onto their stage at the crescendo before they try to mate with them. Any extra "Fans" who are present, she often lets her "chorus" have. But the most surprising aspect of a Songstress is that they are actually really tender and caring lovers. While Matriarch's can be, depending on the individual personality, all Songstresses seem to share this trait, making sure their "fans" really enjoy the show to the end. After the performance, the Fans are often given more permanent "seats" to the Songstress while she continues to indoctrinate them all with a combination of her singing, and her milk which cases complete infection over time like a Siren. Eventually these completely infected women are set free and are considered "Groupies", and are free to walk around the theater at their leisure, but they won't go far away from their favorite Artist, and as per usual with claimed broodmothers, are happy to be carrying her children.

"Talent Promotion" : The creation of a new Songstress is a complicated process as well, as the Songstress sends her Hoppers out to look for capable female singers that can fit the role. Once they find one, they attempt to bring her to the Theater, with the Songstress sending out Large Hoppers to guard these individuals from other Towerlings. Once they bring the potential Songstress to the Theater, the Songstress makes the new girl swallow a egg of a Hopper, which dissolves inside them and spreads the Songstress's chromosomes throughout their body, beginning the transformation process. Over a period of time the Songstress will train the new Songstress as her body begins to change into a Songstress, teaching her about singing their melody and letting her get practice at enthralling and mating others. During this period, the new one will also act as a backup singer, giving the Songstress even more power for this period of time. Eventually, the new Songstress will be fully fledged, and the old one will give her half her swarm of Hoppers, and some of her "Groupies", and the new Songstress will go and establish her own theater at a different location. They do occasionally still visit each other.

"You know, if we had found out about these kinds of women before we found Sirens....we would probably have called these Sirens instead. Hindsight is 20/20." Melissa said.
