Some encouragement from a senior partner

You park and ride the elevator up to your floor, thinking about the day ahead. When your reach your floor you smile a good morning at the receptionist before heading to your office. You're just putting your briefcase down when there's a tap on your door.

"Morning Lisa," Frank Lucas says with a smile.

"Good Morning sir," you respond, giving your best smile back to him. He's a senior partner of the firm, a distinguished man in his sixties with a fine head of silver hair. He's always been a perfect gentleman to you, although you've noticed a glint in his eye on a few occasions when one of the pretty young secretaries goes by.

"Ready for the bail hearing?"

"Yes sir. I have no doubt we'll get a low bail set or maybe even a released on recognizance."

"Good. I don't have to tell you how important Jeff Ryan's account is to the firm. We need to come through on this for his idiot son. The first step is this bail hearing. Jeff will be very unhappy if his kid's bail is denied."

"No problem sir, I'm on it." You smile confidently.

"I hope so," Frank says. "Show Judge Melman what you can do. I think you're the right lawyer to get this done. Show me what you've got Lisa," he gives you a smile and a thumbs up as he turns to leave. "Oh, and Lisa? The partnership committee is meeting this week. I wouldn't be surprised if your name didn't come up. Do good today."

"Yes sir, consider it done," you say with confidence, your mind racing ahead to the hearing.
