So Who Is Cheating

Two o'clock sharp Rita waltzes into my office and plonks down in one of the chairs in front of my desk. A minute later a mousy looking smaller version of her joins her. If Rita didn't already tell me she was coming with her sister then I would never had guessed her relationship to the newcomer.

"So I.M. as I told you on the phone, her bastard of a husband is going to divorce her on trumped up evidence!" turning to Anna "Show him what Nick gave you with his ultimatum! The mousy woman rummages in her oversize handbag and pulls out a legal size white envelope bearing the letterhead of Godwin Investigations.

Handing it over to me, I pull out Godwin's standard photoshopped garbage. Taking a fast spin through them, seeing pretty well the exact same picture a woman on a bed being fucked from behind. The man's head either missing or blurred so much identification is impossible.

"So Anna tell me, why does your husband want a divorce?"

Rita answers for her "Cause he would get at least half of her fortune that I gave her in the settlement!" Anna nods her head at that then collects the pictures and returns then to the envelope then her purse.

"Any chance he's the cheater Anna?"

Once again Rita replies for her. "Of course he's cheating that's why I brought her to you! I.M."

"Hey crazy idea!, but why don't you let her speak for herself?"

"She can't, she mute since birth!" And with that it all became clear to me. She can't testify for herself and most courts here will not allow written statements in divorce cases due to the big possibility of being tampered with. Might as well just sign over everything to him. Banging my fist onto the desk top, scaring both ladies, making Rita ask "So you'll take her case?"

"Oh yeah I'm taking it and planning on tearing the two of them down just for the fun of it!" This time money wasn't a factor in my decision to accept the case, nor was the chance of getting Rita back in bed. This time I was out to screw Godwin once and for all!
