Sick Day Part 1

"You know, we're getting close to winter. The lake will probably freeze over. Wanna go for one last kayak trip?"

"Sounds great."

The two continue their shower, resisting the temptation to exchange touches. Once done, Spencer prepared breakfast for the two. As they began to eat, Amy entered the room.

"Hey Amy." Danielle said.

That's when Amy noticed Dani's bruise. "Hey, what happened to you Dani?"

"I slipped last night."

"Ah."

"So she's got the day off." Spencer added. "So we're going to go kayaking on the lake."

"Fair enough."

"We might go out for lunch too if you want to come along?"

"Sure."

After their breakfast, Danielle and Spencer head down to his garage, where they prepared the kayaks. There, Dani asked "So is Amy into kayaking?"

"Not really."

"Fair enough."

"She does seem really interested in photography though."

"Yeah she does."

"It's good to see you two getting along."

"We're you a bit concerned about that?"

"To be honest, I'm surprised she took it so well."

"It would be difficult to go through what you two have."

"It is... I still think of Kirstin every day."

"Awww Spence." Dani gave Spencer a hug.

"You've been great though Danielle." Spencer kissed her on the forehead. "I'm glad to have you around."

Danielle smiled. "And I like being around."

"Seriously Dani. I never thought I'd be with someone else."

"Well... I don't think I quite know how to respond to that."

"I just want you to know that no matter what, you're special to me Danielle."

Tears began to well up in Danielle's eyes.

"You okay?"

"Yeah." Danielle sniffled. "Sorry, just a little overwhelmed." She followed her statement with a chuckle.

"I understand."

Next, she took a deep breath. "Shall we hit the water?"

"Sure."
