'Marianne, no! You can't!'

'It's alright, Sagus. You have to go back, but..but i can stay. I don't think i could have helped you anyway. Besides, my necromancy is too risky for me to be left alive where i may have to use it. It's better this way.'

'Marianne. I...i won't let you do this!!'

"It isn't up to you. Are you SURE you want to do this?"

'I am.'

'NO!!'

"Very well."

'Sagus....i'll always love you.'

'NOOOOO!!!!!'

"MARIANNE!!!"

"Sagus! You're alive? How?" Rebecca was caught off-guard by the sudden scream.

"Must've been my impressive alchemy! I made a body so good, his soul had to come back to it!"

Sagus stood up and ran to Marianne's body, still in it's meditative pose. He shook it.

"Good luck! That trance is almost unbreakable. Marianne, a necromancer. Who would've guessed?"

Sagus shook her and screamed her name. Sophie approached from behind him.

"Sagus? Sagus, stop it. She'll come out when she's ready."

"NO! She...she took my place! But she has to come back! Marianne, come back!! Come back right now!!"

"Sagus, you're worrying me."

Sagus swallowed hard and put two fingers to Marianne's neck. He didn't have to wait for a pulse; her cold skin told him all he needed to know. He fell limply to his knees and let his head drop. Rebecca felt her neck as well, gasping at her lack of pulse.

"Not you too, Rebecca. C'mon, quit fooling around! Marianne's fine! Look, if i touch her neck, will you drop this so we can go o...." Sophie touched her and fell silent.

A stone memorial was erected in Marianne's honor. It showed her as her friends remembered her: smiling, laughing, but always with a look in her eyes that suggested pain and fear. Under her feet was inscribed:
