The tour of the facilities goes much better with the pretty cheerleader coach as your guide. As she guides you through the athletic center she explains that because the school is a two year school, you play a wide variety of different opponents. The obvious competition would be other two-year associates programs, but the young ladies at the Pink Rose couldn't possibly be on the same field as those students. Instead the school travels for hours sometimes to find other colleges in similar situations. Luckily, she explains, in this part of New England there are a good number of small schools that can band together to provide an appropriate level of competition.

Alice doesn't seem bothered by the inherent snobbery of the situation as much as she does the late-night bus rides home. As a minor league player you learned to put up with these rides, and that was with a bunch of smelly jocks whose raucous laughter and crude sense of humor made getting any rest a risky proposition. Making the same long trips with a bus full of pretty 18, 19 and 20 year old girls sounded much more pleasant.

"Do the cheerleaders go to all the away games then?" You ask as the two of you wander through the smaller of the two gyms towards the locker-rooms. Alice no longer has her arm on yours, but as often as not when she wants to direct your attention she rests her hand on your shoulder, back or arm. The constant touching is starting to have a cumulative effect on your libido and you wonder what it would be like to snuggle under a blanket with this cheerful blonde after an extra-inning victory.

You pass two Hispanic maintenance men sharing a chuckle, and greet them with a little of the rough Spanish you learned from players from all over the Caribbean, Mexico and Latin America. You must have surprised the pair, because they immediately stopped talking and nod politely to you and Alice.

"Hey," Alice grabs your arm again and pulls you against her knit top. "That was really good! I should introduce you to Monica, she'll be happy to have someone else to speak Spanish with."

"I must be doing something wrong," you tease Alice, "I was hoping you were starting to like me, but now you're trying to pass me off to one of your girlfriends?"

"Oh, I do like you Brian, I really do." You smile at Alice's easy acceptance of this budding relationship. In addition to the changing rooms, the lower level of the sports complex has a number of training rooms, and a pretty impressive weight room. The facilities in this private school are easily as impressive as the weight room in the Lake Monsters' clubhouse. Alice leads you into the empty room and past the row of ellipticals and stair-climbers, bemoaning how many hours she spends on the machines every week just to stay in shape.

"I bet you're more of a free-weights guy." She smiles as she points out a few mats and the racks of weights set the far wall.

"Actually, I like these weight benches." You tell her, guiding her towards a padded bench set at a 45 degree angle for upper body work.
