She goes

She looks at you with a trembling mouth, her eyes searching your face for mercy and finding none. Beaten, she drops her gaze and nods.

"I'll go," she says quietly, fighting tears. "You're being very mean, but I'll go."

Smiling cruelly you release her hair and watch her slowly walk to the door. With her hand on the knob she turns back and looks at you, then silently shakes her head and leaves, closing it behind her. With a shrug, you get dressed again before calling Jim Gavin to let him know what has transpired.

"She didn't leave you much choice John," he reassures you. "I'm sure she'll go running to her mother who will call me to appeal to my paternal instincts." He gives dry chuckle. "She seems to forget I don't have any. In the meantime, you'll need a new secretary. Have you anyone in mind, do you want to make do with a temp? What's your call."

"Let me think about that. There's a black haired wench called Amanda who has dropped some hints she'd like to work for me. She's someone else's secretary now, a junior man. Let me think more about it."

"Very good. Go have lunch and let me know. We can talk this afternoon."
