She finds a book of uncommon spells.

At the start of it all, Hermione's day seemed to be going just as simply as any other day. She woke up, bathed, got dressed, brushed, breakfast, etc. However, this day would soon take a turn for the worse, she just didn't know it yet.

As anyone who knows Hermione can tell you about her: she is smart, very smart. With that in mind, it shouldn't be too much of a surprise that when she found herself with some free time, she chose to spend it in the library. With no particular subject in mind at the moment, although she was sure she'd think of one soon, she began looking through books. During this little search, she came across one book in particular.

Reading the title, she instantly became curious. "A. M. G. and M. A. J.'s Archive of Uncommon Spells. Uncommon? What does it mean by that?" It was such a vague word to describe spells with, it could mean any number of things really. The only thing it really tells me, she thought, is that these spells aren't widely known. And that wasn't the only thing odd about the book. While it wasn't odd for initials to be on a book's cover instead of the author's name, the initials on this book weren't spelled out anywhere on the outside of the book or on the first few pages of the book. Eager to know more, she began quickly looking through some of the rest of the book's pages.
