She calls the police

"I'm calling the police," she said, picking up the phone.

"Wait, Mom. I don't know what's going on, but..." She started dialing before I could finish. I heard her tell the police what happened, then she stopped. Her eyes widened and her voice trembled. She finished the conversation and hung up the phone. "Mom, what's going on?"

"Turn on the TV."

Confused, I complied. I turned on the TV and turned it to a news channel. I was stunned to see the headline: MEN HAVE VANISHED; NO MALES LEFT; WOMEN NO OLDER THAN 25."

"What's going on?" I asked.

"I don't know, John. But it looks like you're the only man left on the planet."
