She’s working with her step brother

“You’re early.” A man’s voice calls out indiferently. Hana can hear him speaking briefly with the chef as he passes on his orders, and then he walks back to the break room where Hana is.

“Good timing though.” He pats her on the shoulder as he walks past and sits down. “There’s only one customer.”

This was Shinsuke, her older step brother. He had already been working here for a year after graduating high school and helped her get the job in the first place. Shin was tall and thin, but not scrawny. He had short black hair with a long fringe, and pale skin. He almost had a rocker look about him, often wearing black skinny jeans an torn shirt, but that wasn’t very obvious in uniform.

They had know each other for five years, and during that time their parents had married and they’d moved in together. Their relationship had always been a little odd though. Suddenly moving two horny teenagers into the same house was probably a bit risky. Hana had crushed on him hard, but apart from the occasional moments where they got a little too close during an argument or a tickle fight, he didn’t seem to notice, and nothing had happened. Part of her was still hopeful though.

Hana sat down beside him. “That’s good.” She replied. “Are you on your break?”

“Yeah I’m going to have a smoke.” He stands up now, “Come with me?”

Hana nods and follows him out back, as he pulls out a cigarette and lighter from his back pocket. “How’s school, then?” He asks as he lights up and breaths out a long puff of smoke.

“It’s fine I guess...” she shrugs. “We’ve just started so not much is happening yet. I’ve been looking forward to this more.” She says, wondering if it would mean anything to him.

Shin laughs gently as he taps the ashes from his cigarette, and leans against the wall. “Yeah, can’t get better than this.” He says sarcastically, and smiles at her. She blushes slightly and looks away, “I like it.”

“Oi, don’t frown.” He shuffles sideways so they’re close and nudges her with his shoulder as he takes another puff. Hana looks up at him, and shuffles closer too so their faces are so close she can feel his body heat. He breaths out the smoke again, aiming away, and then turns his head back so they’re facing each other only inches apart.

“You’re a dork, liking it here.” He teases softly. And then he leans his head in so their lips are almost touching. Their eyes lock for a splits second, and Hana’s heart is racing. She doesn’t move, and in the split second that Shin hesitates, he takes this as permission. He kisses her on the lips. A gently closed mouth kiss that he holds for what seemed to Hana like forever. She could taste the smoke on his lips, and she didn’t want him to pull away.

She runs her hands down his chest as they turn to face their bodies against each other, she gently grips his shirt between her fingers trying to tell him not to pull away, but he does. The two of them stare at each other silently, and Hana’s face flushes. Is he suddenly regretting it?
