Settlements

Adventurers' Rest: A dilapidated fort that lies at an important crossroads in the Shrikelands. Your base until you have a chance to find something better. Outside the central structure, has a stable, something that once may have been a blacksmith's workshop, barracks, and a few other buildings. A well within the walls provides water, and some of the soldiers who once occupied this place kept a garden of fruit and vegetables that has allowed to grow wild but can be salvaged with some care and attention. With hard work and dedication, this fort can be restored and form the basis of a village. An hour away from the ruins of a lakeside town.

Inn-ari: As a traveler nears the end of the maintained passage through the Mistpeaks, they'll have a chance to rest and experience the hospitality of this kitsune family-run inn before continuing into the Shrikelands. The atmosphere is warm, and Lian always greets those who enter with an inviting smile. His daughter, Sakura, dreams of becoming a merchant prince and practices her sales-pitches on the tenants, hawking everything from hand-crafted trinkets to the mugs for the drinks they ordered. And, a stone's throw away, weary adventurers can relax in one of the peak's hot springs. The onsen is the pride of the family matron, and lonely occupants often find themselves kept company by the charming woman.

Marefolk Village: A hardy group of pioneers that have frequently been tested by the dangers of the Shrikeland and so far prevailed. Chieftain Márjá leads her people with a gentle hand despite the harsh environment and trusts her clanswomen to handle themselves, or ask for help when they can't. Trades leather and seafood for a few tools and other essential items that are hard to come by, but they're always eying for greater independence and self-sufficiency.
