Chapter 6 by Storm Chyld Storm Chyld

Recruit able bodies, or seek information?

See about hiring some muscle.

Slipping out of the carriage, the young Justicar glanced around. They were near the edge of town, and next to a small building, and large enclosed stable. Horses and carriages would be in the stable, but the small structure would have the proprietor. Walking into the building, Thomas glanced around the small lobby. A large counter split the room in half. A doorway exiting out each side, on their side of the counter, while a door led out beyond the counter. No one seem to be manning the counter, and their was no bell to summon them.

With a small frown, Thomas extended his mind out, to feel the presence of other minds. He could sense two people in the room to the right, and with that, he walked toward that doorway, with Kaia on his heels. Walking through, they saw a plush den, with a large sofas, and a billiard table. A stairway led up to the next floor, where their rooms likely awaited them.

Sitting on the billiard table in the lotus position sat a large brooding warrior with his eyes closed. Brown pants and matching leather boots were nearly covered by the lower half of a turquoise chapkin. The chapkin fanned out, kilt like, falling to his knees, and was covered in gray geometric designs. The upper half of the chapkin, which would cling tightly to his muscular torso, was covered by a black breast plate. Matching black bracers graced his thick forearms, and had a red sun emblazoned on the top of them. The chapkin was short sleeved, leaving his large tattooed biceps exposed, the left arm bearing a red sun, like his armor, while the right had the skull of a human. His olive skin was rough, and weathered by time, and battle, with a few scars scattered along its surface. A thick red turban rested on his heavy brow, a thin cloth extending across the nape of his neck to protect it from the harsh sun of his homeland. A thin red rectangular veil was attached to either side of his turban, covering his face from below the eyes, and falling down past his neck. On his right hip was a coil of black silk rope, while a scimitar rested on his left hip. In his lap sat a huge glaive with a short handle. The blade was a good three feet in length, with a broad head, reminiscent of an axe. The handle was the distinctly short part only about four feet in length, and was clearly meant to be wielded like an axe.

Sitting on the couch was a tall amazonian woman with long blood red hair, emerald eyes, and pale skin. Far from soft, she was corded with tightly packed musculature. Her skin had thick blue lines painted sparsely across her exposed skin, including the right side of her face, and beneath her left eye. Her dark cuirass was shaped around her large bosom, but left much of her cleavage, and stomach exposed. Thomas thought that rather useless, but he didn't wear armor, so what would he know. Small metal epaulets shaped like animal skulls rested on each shoulder, while her legs and arms were protected by matching greaves and gauntlets. A loin cloth slipped between her legs, covering her black thong, while leather faulds protected her flanks to a degree. The faulds were buckled by another skull like clasp, covering her sexy navel. An obsidian stone rested between her plush globes, hanging from a necklace made of black cord, with fangs of various animals strung along it's length at even intervals. A black hilted long sword rested in it's leather scabbard on the couch next to her.

Both of them looked formidable, and Thomas didn't think the woman would flirt with him. On the other hand, the man might give Kaia someone else to flirt with, so that she would leave him be. Thomas considered the options for a moment.

Which of the two will Thomas hire?
